Jai Hind! In this video I discuss with Lt Gen Deependra Hooda about Indian Military Doctrine and the need for India to re look at its military doctrine and why we need a new one. We analyse the threats to us by China and Pakistan and their collusive efforts against us. We also talk about what advantages the Chinese have over India and how we need to ensure that we are ahead of the game from the Chinese. The India China Stand off has brought things to reality and to show what the real intentions of the Chinese are? We diss about China and its expanding conflicts and the addition of the Chinese presence in Afghanistan region.

That's a wonderful reality check! One part which I thought would be touched upon, when Gen Hooda referred to "capability building", was the way China has gone in to acquire or plunder poorer/weaker nations of their natural mineral wealth, across the globe, paving way to realize its mid term and long term strategic objectives across the tech spectrum. Another important aspect I felt which the Gen probably hinted was (1) miniaturization/portability & know-how of electronic warfare and its integration into military equipment, and to support that (2) an independent & dedicated military cyber-space network, an area which will take considerable amount of time, effort and money. Given the fact our sovereignty is of paramount importance and our neighborhood being anything but friendly, India has no choice but to prepare sooner than later and allocate resources to maintain its deterrence!

Concept of civil military fusion probably is about, having a country's civil industry to support and develop military requirements and subsequently use these technologies for civilian use or develop dual use technologies. Chinese strategy of civil military fusion is using civilians settled or working in other countries to steal tech from every country.. Talking about technologically advanced military is probably a misnomer because most of their technologies used in military equipment is reverse engineered stolen technology, while their base for developing new technologies is doubtful. Their concept of developing warfare on all fronts is to overcome the technology drawbacks and not expose their military to actual fight, but use the military as show of strength..

Technology will boost a military's ability to fight, but cannot substitute boots on ground.

10:49 Sir i think we have to first make a plan on economy s steep growth then the increase in defense budget will automatically go and after that we should focus on military industrial infrastructure projects on next level including policy on mandatory military service for 2 years for every able bodied citizens with out which no central government service may be allowed to join so that Babudom culture could understand the difficulties faced by our armed forces

Could have dwelled more into doctrine.. probably a common doctrine needs to be put forth by d govt, and when integration of forces takes place, three services should have plans in place to achive the nation's objectives..

What is Doctrine? What is Strategy? It seems to me that in the talk, the terms have been used interchangeably. Are they interchangeable? Googling the terms leads me to believe that they are not. It would be good idea to spell out what such terms mean for the purposes of the discussion. It is good to keep in mind the following from Alice in Wonderland:
"'When I use a word, ’ Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean – neither more nor less.’"
