Maybe it’s because the algorithm optimized and showed the ad only to those most likely to watch more than 15 seconds of the video. since the cost per thruplay was the same

Its because the 500 one, you targeted it you narrowed viewers you got less views but more targeted thats why it has more through plays because more people targeted were interested

I've started looking into ads myself i appreciated the vid but im a bit lost. the first ad ($300) had a throughput rate of %5.36 and the second one $500 at %9.17 which for dollar value is better than the first ad? Obviously as you stated there was less impressions but wouldn't you rather that click through rate as apposed to mass impression rates? cheers

It’s like Angies list, home advisor and yelp when I was doing a local business. They promise you the world if you spend more money but the sales rep is full of it and after a while you figure out it’s all lies. Same with youtube, people say post often and good content and bla bla bla at a certain time but in the end you are just another number for the computer system and no one gives and ur just meaningless to a computer system. Rule of thumb never rely on what they tell you, especially a computer. You should do your own thing and rely on your own intuition to get you where you want to go. I would say dont use their rules but find a way to make it on your own.
