Morocco player celebrates by dancing with his mother after World Cup win

Moroccan football player Sofiane Boufal brought his mother onto the pitch to celebrate with her after his side's shock 1-0 win over Portugal.

The Angers winger joined in team celebration as they made history as first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

After Cristiano Ronaldo walked off in tears, the Moroccan players celebrated with fans and members of their family, while a beaming Boufal danced on the side of the pitch holding his mother's hand waving to the cheering crowds.

The team faces France in the semi-finals on Wednesday 14 December.

I live in Abu Dhabi and I watched the game at the fanzone in hudairat. Of course thousands of people were there and EVERYBODY supported Morocco. As you might know, our weather is pretty dry and we barely get rain. The second, and I mean the second they got the goal, it started raining. For people who don't know, rain is a reward and sign of relief from Allah. Everyone got down in sujood position and people starting raising their hands up to pray for Morocco as the duaa during rain is always answered. Alhamdullah, Allah answered our prayers.

EDIT: Ok so I've been reading the replies to my comment and some people were really nice and some turned it into a political and religious debate. We prayed for something that we wanted and Allah gave it to us. Its like when you pray for good luck in something. Allah is always with you and guides you throughout that task you need good luck in. So Allah cares about what we want. It's not about Allah being with Moroccan team to help them win. Its about us, Allah's believers wanting something and from how much we want it we pray to Allah wishing for it and Allah helps us get it. Just like we pray for the children in countries with war and extreme poverty.

That is so beautiful....prioritizing their mothers and sharing the most happiest moments with as many Hispanics do in times of celebrations, sharing it with their moms and dads. I have been researching and demonstrating to so many just how much influence the Arab cultures had over centuries of migration in Spain. Clearly they mixed and we see those Arab traits- physical similarities, the Alphabet, theirs words, expressions (physical contact, hugging and cheek kiss). Then these Arab customs became part of the Spaniards culture, which where then brought over by the Spaniards to the American continent during colonial times. This is not to say the Native Americans were not just as loving with their parents, just pointing out just how much cultural similarities exist between Hispanics and Arabs except for the religion and language. Again, beautiful mother- son moment. Very lovely. Way to go Morocco. You played a strong game. Greetings from New York. 👏
