I typically like art that has some messier sketchy qualities. Goltzius is the exception, his technical mastery of line and clean hatching never ceases to amaze me. This technique is one I was naturally doing a little bit but I never considered doing it this deliberately or to combine colors as you mentioned at the end. I have a new skill to test today thank you

Well that’s something new to try and, as you say, a bit more gradual in application than cross hatching. I like your thought of leading students to the path, rather than doing a ‘paint by numbers’ tutorial. I’m finding that the path is the start of a maze but there’s joy in finding my way.
