I was in the pub the next day and the table next to us were talking about it, and we all started debating the stoppage with each other. That Sunday after is almost as memorable as the fight itself. The debates werent just happening on the internet - this fight crossed over in the truest sense.

CARL - Ex Amateur boxer and ABA coach - (boxed in front of 80 fans lol) Watched entire fight again AND astonished how now the stoppage looks much better and your words about a free hit sound genuine now. I have to say back then I was guilty of getting caught up in the emotion of it all. Fair play to Carl for the honesty here. Not at the time hence booed by crowd at the end with George cheered but chin of stone heart of a lion and true gladiator to somehow withstand slegehammer punishment was unbelievable. CRIMINAL stoppage TBH, Groves well ahead too. Froch was coming on strong but it was WAY too early to tell whether or not Groves could survive the round.
BUT in fairness to Froch he made Groves collapse on his own leg in front of 80, 000 fans at Wembley & he was the defending champ so the controversy from the first fight didn't matter as much after that conclusion. 🤷‍♂ Fan of both in equal measure & it was one of the first fights that got me heavily invested in boxing turning me from casual fan to hardcore making boxing my #1 sport > football. 🥊💯
