I carefully followed all your steps in the order presented. Next, I followed Microsoft help instructions on "How to perform a Clean Boot, " and then I was "FINALLY" able to successfully run the Microsoft Update (Setup) File to upgrade my computer from Win 10, Version 1703 to the most current Version 1809.
Note: Remember to use the "msconfig" command to Reset your computer to Start/Boot normally.

My friends, this helped me after 5 failed attempts to install the 1803 update. I just uninstalled AV software (it was AVAST Premier) and the update worked! Then, I reinstalled the AV again. No problem. Hope this is hopeful!

WORKS!!! I tried all options but I believe the 1st and 4th option worked for me. I had to download and use Ultra Virus Killer to force delete folders in the SoftwareDistribution folder. Rebooted and performed the update. You may want to temporarily disable your power options so the computer doesn't shut down while updating as it does take a very long time to update (several hours in my case). The next morning I turned on the computer and the update was installed at 100%. I was asked to restart; I rebooted and the update fully installed with no issues. Recommend performing another update after the install as I had several. I have an HP Pavilion DV7 Beats Audio laptop with AMD Catalyst driver. Good job MJ Tube :)

In my case after many failure, I uninstalled all antivirus, installed previous win update 1709, then run update troubleshoot. Finally installed 1803 succcesfully.

You might want to adjust the 100%. None of it worked on mine.

I failed also to update 1803, then ill reset my laptop Hp windows 10 after that i try to update then it works. now i have the latest version.. i hope it can help.
