In my experiences being booked you don't get to wear a jacket of any kind, no hats, glasses, wallets, smokes, food, lighters, cell phones, watches, jewelry, shoelaces and in some cases they take your shoes too. Well, they did take their ties, they can be used to harm yourself or others while in holding. You'd be surprised how many 1st timers think their lives are over and wish they could end it all right there. Some of them cry and sob all night keeping everyone else awake, it's pathetic. They also need to be reminded to squat when they use a communal commode.
