This is an extremely interesting tracked ATV Patrol Mini. It looks like a quad on tracks and at the very first glance I was impressed how cool it is. It looks like a serial produced vehicle but in fact it is completely homemade machine. And today we are going to find out how it is built and what it is capable of. So get comfortable my friends we are to start right now lets go.

I'd just like to go online here and state how enjoyable your videos are. I love the accent of the narrator, although it is noticeable, the meaning is always clear and easy to understand. This dual tracked unit might have a use in forestry, treeplanting and the like, here in Canada. Or patrolling powerlines. Apparently, the inventor is not rushing his development of the machine, but is still on the curve of product development. This is wise, hopefully he will put a polished design on the market. I used to be a forester here in Canada, and when the companies hire a forestry tech, they usually ask that they have their own quad. The companies used to supply them but no longer. I was given once, a Honda three wheeler of 90 cc's for work, and it almost ended me. I've also used Kawasaki 75 cc minibikes, snowmobiles of various kinds, helicopters, jet boats, canoes, four wheelers, a mountain bike, pickup trucks, an Argo, and out of all of them I most preferred the mountain bike. Why? The quiet of it. Every other device needed a gas engine. Apart from paddling a canoe, the noise of those machines was irritating. A mountain bike is dead simple to maintain, light to move, and can carry most of what a technician needs for a days work. No fuel needed except for a good lunch. It's slower than a motorized unit too, which is a good thing when a man works all alone out in the bush, it's safer. It can't cover distance like a quad can at higher speed, but works for most of the jobs I was on. I've even pedaled them through light snow. Sometimes, less is more.

Very cool prototype. Would like to see how the clutch drive system works, how it was made?

I would love to see a video showing detail of the motor to slipper clutch setup. This is quite interesting.

Great Project, but a little bit to short and less powerful.
I would suggest length 240 - 245cm the you can load it sidewards in a big truck.
I think there would be a market in Germany.

more comfy, room in back for hauling gear, slightly longer, 6" to 1' ?

It's easy to make a machine look good when the snow conditions are ideal for the machine.
I still like it though ...but place for improuvements.

If you made a larger version with a diesel engine and sold it in the US I would buy one!

The tracks width needs to be increased to avoid getting stuck on the soft pack, its too much weight for such a small surface area its close to half a ton with just one rider, it would be even worse with two people in any deeper snow.

Needs a bigger motor plus tanks are heavy for a reason more weight equals more traction for the tracks

If this vehicle runs at least 40-50 miles per hour. A lot of people will buy this.

it should be developed more to be suitable for 2 persons.

Total cost to you is around $8g's?!? If you were to sell these personal tracked vehicles for $8000 per unit, would you be breaking even or would you be getting enough of a profit to make this worth your time and effort? If you make good quality stuff, you could probably get away with charging more than $8000. If the build quality isn't that good, you might want to think about bringing the price down a bit. Have you thought about different options? You could offer different: engine displacement/horsepower, lights, roll cage, storage, track types, collapsible/inflatable pond crossing pontoon bolt-ons, enclosed and heated cab...you know, options.
