Accountability from higher up’s should mean they take a pay cut… it’s their fault this happened not the employees doing their jobs. What a mess of a company

It's a shame to see the utter mismanagement of Bungie. One of my favorite lines from Jason's article is ""They described a company that grew too fast and tried to develop too many projects at once, spreading resources too thin rather than prioritizing its chief moneymaker, Destiny 2."

...Well no fucking shit, Pete. What did you expect?

Pete Parsons really out here breaking the stereotypes of useless golden parachute CEOs.

Instead of wasting millions on yachts he wastes millions on cars.

Bungie has lost 35% of their staff in the last year, among them some of their best talent and Pete still refuses to take accountability for his own failures in leadership. Instead he spent most of his letter blaming the economy for this as if this was not his fault for overspending and trying to fund at least 4 projects with the revenue from 1 game. He is a coward and I will never let someone like this forget that.

I stopped buying expansions after they decided to remove 1/3 of the launch content and some of the best expansions (Forsaken). Maybe stop removing paid content from those who supported you and your company would have more revenue.

Can't even enjoy the entire story anymore since they removed so much content, it doesn't make sense and people have to go try and find a synopsis somewhere.

Worse yet, you end up with simps for the game who excuse this garbage.

The cars being "not something to talk about journalisticly so long as nobody is getting hurt, " right up until you consider how many cars he can afford, vs. how many employees can probably barely afford even one car WHILE employed. So yeah, good on you bringing it up.

Couldn't have happened to a worse studio. Remember when they deleted content millions of people paid for? Sure the Red War, Year 1 DLCs and Forsaken might not all have been bangers but it still was content people spent their hard earned money on with the expectations that it wasn't time limited.

"thank you employees for making a fantastic expansion, now fuck off while i enjoy my 2.5mil worth of vintage cars"

Bungie "We'll need you to do overtime to meet this deadline"
Dev: "I am not this type of employee"
They'll never hear the end of it until this CEO is out the window.

But real question:was every laid off employee teleported to the white room with an empty job application and then Pete Parsons came out off nowhere, showed his car collection and said:"You're my favourite.Don't ever forget that."???

I wanted to play Destiny 2 but I honestly couldn't figure out what expansions I needed to buy to get back into it. There were just piles of nonsense and no guidance on what is necessary. Just chaos.

It was always going to end this badly for Destiny.

Quit during lightfall, went back to warframe and never looked back

With so many layoffs, and such perilous job security, I worry for the future of game development. The effects won't hit us immediately; but the amount of people that will take a look at game dev as a job, see the layoffs and treatment, then go "Nah", will start to add up and compound. This trend continues, gaming is gonna get real bad overall (though there will still be bright spots such as the rare good company, and lots of indies, hopefully).

I am pretty angry for the devs. I also have this overwhelming feeling of the fact that I regret playing Destiny since the launch first game. I didn't buy The Final Shape because I lost faith in the company with Lightfall, just like a lot of people fell off of WoW after Shadowlands. Then Blizzard made Dragonflight, but a lot of people quit and played Final Fantasy 14 for example, and never went back. Exactly what I did. The fact that Pete Parsons showed off the 2 million dollars with of cars to some of his employees before laying them off was also very disgusting. I will just play Halo CE-Reach through MCC because that's pretty much the only "Bungie-like" game we have left even though MCC was developed by 343.

I am sorry for the staff, but fuck Bungie. Entire company needs to be closed. Remember when we blamed all the problems on Activision? REMEMBER? How fucking wrong we were.

seeing a lot of people saying that members of management have lost their jobs so bungie management is "taking accountability" and uh no
most of the management positions who have lot their jobs are mostly people who got promoted recently because they worked hard in lower level positions, they are not the management who are responsible for the game and company failing -.-

the ones who failed to run bungie correctly still have not taken accountability e.g. peet

“Saving Destiny 2” would have the requirement of having, actually, saved D2.

They did not.
