As a Breton player I feel second hand pride. I also find it strange, as I don't know that much lore about the Elder Scrolls Series beyond what happened in the last three games, that I was naturally drawn to being a spell sword with my Breton characters.

Bretons are one of the most fun races to play, but they often get overlooked in lore circles due to not being as exotic as the others. Nonetheless, since getting back into Elder Scrolls half a year ago, I've been endlessly fasincated by their individualist obsession with chivalry, their respect for both physical and magical prowess, and their long history of tiny feuding kingdoms and ever-shifting alliances.

The more I learn about Bretons, the more I realize that most people by default choose a playthrough style that would most resemble what would be expected of a Breton in the Elder Scrolls lore. Regardless of which race ypu play, if you play a primarily warrior character, its likely your strongest weapons will have a magic enchantment on it, like a Breton Mage Knight would. Choosing a primarily Mage build play style? Even the most diehard Mages will have a physical weapon or even use bound weapons, like a Breton Mage Knight would. Going stealth? The best thieves and assassins often use Magic to make themselves quieter and less visible, like a Breton Mage Knight would if he were opting for stealth. Breton are the best race to choose. Like the main character of every Elder Scrolls game, Bretons in the lore were regularly adventuring and questing people who took on tasks from higher nobility to heighten their own renown. The Bretons of lore are literally the most representative race of what is expected of every main antagonist of every Elder Scrolls game, regardless of the preconceived racial expectations for the rolls.

First time at this channel and now a new Sub, Bretons are my favorire Race in The Elder Scroll.
It i's nice to know a bit more lore on the Bretons and it has made love the Breton' s even more, Thank You Wizards and Warriors.

Love Bretons, love playing a Breton, my best play through of all time was a Breton atronach in oblivion. Spell resistance, 100%spell absorption. I was cracking welkynd stones constantly to refuel my magica, burned that magica just as fast with extremely powerful spells. What made this play through fun was being primarily mastered in hand to hand and using touch based destruction spells only for that school of magic. It encouraged me to level sneak, get in closer to fight my foes and completely dropped my fear of enemy mages since I just devour their magic and annihilated them with mine.

When I found out that briar hearts were related to breton culture, I was intrigued. Very interesting magic.

My wife and her friends pick Bretons cause the lore and magic builds, I play as a Breton because I'm tired of being killed by magic while I'm trying to stab a wizard in the face

I often Rp as a Breton Wizard in Skyrim. I hope they do this race justice in Elder Scrolls 6, giving them a bit of elven aesthetic like semi-pointed ears. They are basically the ES version of Half-Elves.

If not for their (stupid) weakness to magic, I'd call the Altmer my favorite TES race.

But as it stands, I choose the Bretons every time I play any TES game.

Breton for the first time on Oblivion Remastered, after 30 years of being a Nord.

Enjoying the magic and physical resistance. Also quite fun being a tad slow, but able to use weapons and magic. A sword, a shield, heavy armor, destruction magic, restoration and conjuring a little skeleton as well.
