Burning FreeBSD 12.1 with Windows 10

A small video in response to a subscriber request wanting to show how to burn a FreeBSD image to a USB stick.
Thank you to the person who asked, I installed Windows 10 just to show this :-)

Good video, but please do mention that a user double checks the drive selected for writing, otherwise they might loose their data/OS from the device disk, if it writes there.

Linux distributions used to come with a program, rawrite, to do this. I happen to have a Linux machine to hand, I recently copied a bunch of ISO images of special-purpose Linux distros to USB drives using that famous data duplicator, dd. I didn't try the cp command, though I think it would be fine.

It seems that booting modern CD/DVD images copied to USB sticks is not a problem. Using a larger one than otherwise necessary gives added soace to store additional tools or data from the booted system.

At present I anticipate booting FreeBSD in a virtual environment.

It might be interesting to try FreeBSD on WSL in Windows 11. The I is for Linux, but it boots a linux kernel of your choice, so maybe,

Perfect, I've been looking for the last week on a comprehensive guide. I managed to get it done yesterday after lots of confusing work, but this video would've made that process 10x faster!

I am struggling with FreeBSD though, it will not work with the NIC in my XPS15 9570 (Known issue, I think?)

Along with this, I cannot set it up with Hyper-V as it will not see the VHD I have created to install it to.

Have you any interest in covering any of those issues?
