The main challenge of the CCAT test is the time constraints. With 50 questions in just 15 minutes, it is a speed test by definition. So, in order to succeed, you will need to be able to solve questions FAST. Your ability to do so, heavily relies on your familiarity with the test’s question types, solving methods, shortcuts, and tips. This video will present you with one such technique for each of the 5 question types:
1. Word problems (Numerical topic)
2. Number series (Numerical topic)
3. Word analogies (Verbal topic)
4. Matrices (Abstract/Spatial topic)
5. Seating arrangements (Logic topic)

To choose the specific section you want to see, here are the topics Shlomik will address in the video:
00:00 - CCAT Practice Video Intro
00:25 - Types of CCAT Questions
01:10 - Numerical Word Problems
02:37 - Number Series Questions
04:04 - Verbal Word Analogies
05:35 - Abstract Matrices Questions
07:16 - Logical Seating Arrangements
09:07 - More CCAT Practice Tests

If you have any questions about the solutions provided or the solving methods, feel free to comment, and we will do our best to respond.

Good luck on your CCAT test!

*Important Clarification*
In the logical sample question, 07:34, whenever it is stated that a person is standing _in front_ of someone, it means that he or she can stand anywhere in front of the other person unless it is stated they are standing _immediately_ in front of him or her.

For example, it is stated that John is standing in front of Heather. This means he is standing in front of her in line, but not necessarily right before her.

Moreover, in 07:42, you can see three sketches of the possibilities, and in one of them, Lumina is last.

The rule states: "If John is not first in line, Lumina is standing somewhere in front of him."
In the third sketch, you see that John is positioned first, meaning that Lumina is not standing in front of him, giving her the freedom to stand last in line.
In the two other possibilities, John is second and Lumina is in front of him.

Remember, the question asks which person "can" stand last, not which person "must" stand last.

whoever thought this would be a good metric to hire by needs dragging under a boat.

What's the reason why should I be tested in math applying for a copywriter position? Plus, I have dyscalculia but I am a very good creative and copywriter. They tested me for a thing they don't even need. That's why I think Americans should review their school and work system.

It took 58 seconds to follow the train of thought of the last example, which is less than what's required for a person with an IQ of 100 (which is the average) to read, process, and solve this question. There are only 15 minutes to answer 50 questions, an average of only 18 seconds per question. I bet most of the CEOs of those companies that are using CCAT to hire people would get the answers less than 40% right.

So you're telling me that, by completing this absurd mindfuck of a test, AND HAVING TO PASS IT, I will have the privilege of not being hired, but having the CHANCE to take part in an interview to then hoping to being good enough to probably advance to the SECOND PART of the interview process, before even being hired for the actual job?

Fuck me, man. Jesus.

No hate against the video, I am glad you guys are actually explaining this to me. I am just burnt out and can't believe the shit they put us through just to find a supposed "qualified" candidate. Worst of all, the CEO probably doesn't even know how the printers in his own establishments work and has to call you to solve it.

I agree with some of the comments about Lumina being ahead of John so the answer to the last question can’t be right. But, if this question hadn’t been wrong, wouldn’t the shortcut to answering it be that since there are 7 people in the list, there have to be 4 people behind Heather who we know is third. So the only answer that ‘lists all’ must be the one that has 4 people. We don’t even have to look at the names in the answer if we read the question properly

When I took this exam I only answered 31 questions but got 29 of them right. If I would’ve taken the last minute and a half or two minutes of the exam to guess on the rest of the answers I probably could’ve gotten in the mid to high 30s.

Ive found in many cases there is more than one right answer. Very frustrating! Especially when low scores cost us a job offer!

How do you even solve the first question using Algebra? I got almost a perfect score on the SAT's math portion, albeit years ago, and I don't know how to solve it off the top of my head.

How Lumina is an option for last if she is in front of John which must be in front of Heather which she is stated to be in the THIRD position? Lumina, John, Heather, Fiona, Kilgore, Ian than Georgia. So my answer is for A since the word "immediately" tells a story : ) Ian is IMMEDIATELY behind Kilgore and IMMEDIATELY in front of Georgia because Fiona needs to be in front "somewhere" of Ian.

These are way harder than the actual test, obv to sell the program... I got a 99th percentile and these challenged me a bit

This is so helpful. The crazy thing is that the tests do not give time for this logical reasoning, as mine is at about 18 seconds per question, so there is almost no way to think of these helpful tables.

the thing is we can only spend 18 secs per question. we will inevitably HAVE to skip some questions that take up more time.

Thanks for this video. When I was trying to solve the last question my reasoning was as follows.
1) 7 people in the full row
2) 1 - 2 - heater is 3 + (4 - 5 - 6 - 7 ) (that means 4 people behind Heather)
3) D is the only option with four people (so then everything else is not important)

Or is the question who is able to stand last in line so the other options are relevant and I then was lucky to be correct with my reasoning?

hey this was helpful but on the matrix question - A and C options are the same?

The right solution is B, it said that Lumina is standing somewhere in front of Ian, so she can't be last in any constellation...

Last ques was explained wrongly. 3rd possibility is not possible, as Lumina should be infront of John (07:36). Ans is option (B) i.e., Georgia, Ian, or Kilgore.

If you can't solve the question immediately, your screwed. There's no time to think of a possible solution. You get 18 seconds per question, that's not enough time to think of a solution for these difficult problems. Your going to have to solve the easy questions in 3-5 seconds if your banking on saving up the time to finish the more challenging questions. This test also leaves no room for error. If you accidentally spend too much time on a question your also screwed because it's easy to use up your banked time if it looks like you can solve the question easily but you actually can't.

For Lumina to be last in line, John must be FIRST in line.
John is SECOND in line, since he is in front of Heather
Ergo, am I crazy or the answer is B not D?
In any case, it took me minutes, so no chance in CCAT

In front vs. immediately in front vs. somewhere in front... Give me a break. How does that apply to database administration, for example? That would mean that the same query could return a different result each time, or that the same backup script would sometimes work and sometimes not work. Sometimes I would show up for work, and sometimes I wouldn't, only because it's possible.
