I love watching Jay’s 2J build videos .

Does it get any better than watching Jay work on a 2j?
Answer: No it doesn’t.

The bull nose stud is a good point. An old school builder I know, used to use a small ball bearing at the bottom of the stud bore for the same reason.

Healthy state of tune🏆 watching these videos makes me want a fast supra..

Heard the same from people pushing stock components it helps to keep the engine rpm above peak torque to help it live.

I never even thought of cam gear wear. But i guess gnarly cams and big springs in a drag setting put big stresses

Would be cool if Toyota hired Jay to help them develop a 3JZ.

I wish you would start doing the x58 engines. We need you to push the platforms into the bottom 7's. You could single handedly take over the fast bmw world!!!

Talking about material that is left behind from machining for cam clearance (6:13) What about all the thin casting flash in the cylinder head that the engine builder didn't spend time deburring? Had material from casting flash that wasn't deburred ruin bearings in no time . How far do you go, depends on the engine builder.

Great video Jay.

Whilst I understand you wasn’t thrilled with the cylinder head, what do you think caused the damage to the exhaust cam and bucket? Also the damage from the pulley on the crank? Not two step related at all is it?

Looking forwards to more videos, especially Tim’s 4G63 rebuild.

I’m surprised that the billet block has standard main cap configuration with only 2 bolts I would have imagined it a 4 bolt setup

I was surprised to see piston oil squirters! In a racing application, using a forged piston and alcohol fuels, do you still find them necessary? I always thought that directing that oil pressure to the mains/rods/head instead was a better choice. Bummer about the headgames head! I thought their stuff was very good... glad to have learned from this and not from personal bad experiences.
