Day 4:

Prompts for #PacingTheTarot:
1) Least used deck...
a. Why?
b. What is one thing you can do to change that, should you wish to?

2) An oldie but a goodie (or a deck that's had its 15 mins etc.)
a. Why?
b. Assuming this deck has waned in your practice, what is one way you could change that?
And if it hasn't waned, what's one of its strong points that you appreciate?

3) A deck that makes you reassess...
a. Why?
b. What is something you can do about that, if you want to?

I feel your frustration with the creased cards. Enjoyed hearing your answers for this VR.

Glad to know the Shadowscapes Czech edition is more visually accessible! I’ve tried the English one, with pretty good eyesight, and felt like I needed a microscope. Also that’s sad about Dream Visions, Marigold, and Antique Anatomy! I especially love the latter two. Thanks for another great video!

I have a suggestion - use decks like Dream Visiins without shuffling. I cannot shuffle (nerve damage in my hands) so I sort cards into multiple piles to shuffle them. Also, with delicate decks I will keep the deck in order, then ‘shuffle a different deck and match the cards, or use dice to select the cards.

Also: on cardstock. The community is mostly ignorant. 300/330 gsm black core cardstock is the best for usage, but as soon as the rabid tarot karens/kevins see that mentioned, they won’t buy the deck because it’s ‘too thin’. It’s meant to be used. It’s meant to be flexible, it’s thin but it has a core. Meanwhile, I’m stuck with decks where I can literally see the illustrations through the backs of the cards because it’s coreless, but yay: THICK

AH I'm so gutted for you about the cardstock issue on the Dream Vision! I haven't had that issue - but I have strong/largeish hands so the shuffle is stiffish but 'even' with the stress it puts on the cards? But yeah, the way it's creasing on you, it's clear the stock is not flexible enough to stand up to a good shuffle for you. WHAT A BUMMER :( Shadowscapes Czech is just gosh... so much better!! :D

Dream vision is a deck I have. I love the creator, love the art, but for some reason I’ve used it once.

I love Dream Vision but then I can't riffle shuffle (I SO wish I could!) so I have no problem with it. I do have decks I just can't deal with because of flimsy cardstock because it just feels cheap, but this cardstock feels substantial and well made (the second edition seems to have the same stock). Are you not able to overhand shuffle a deck that doesn't riffle well? For me, I think if you're not using a deck what you can do about it is hand it on to somebody who will--you don't have to do a thing about it, life's too short to overanalyze it! That said, decks do recycle for me, unused for a while then I pick them up again. Thanks, Julie.

I have the second edition of the Dream Visions Tarot and I hate the cardstock. It sticks together when I try to shuffle it and I find it hard in my hands but I love the imagery so much that I’m willing to overlook the impossible cardstock.

Omg the creases in the Dream Vision are such a bummer 😭 It’s so weird because I definitely do find the cardstock a bit stiff on both editions but they haven’t picked up any creases…that’s crazy that that happened with yours. 😢

You can generally tell if cardstock has a core by holding it up to a strong light. If you can see the back pattern showing through the card then it probably doesn't have a core, and if not, it does. At least that has been my experience.
You should just continue to read with it if you love it... scars and all. :)

A year later, I was looking at people's response to the tag, old watch later vibes.

Didja make your peace with the Marigold and Antique Anatomy pip decks but guidebooks with RWS meanings?? Like squirrel brain saying "but Juli, you read pips this way".

I only ask cause for years the RWS titles and guidebook meanings took me out of reading Tarot de Fuego. It is only recently my brain allowed an traditional style of reading updated, as it were with illustrated pips. It took longer than i would like to admit how long it took my hyperfixation to loosen up. 🧠 🐿

It’s not just you. I love dream vision art wise but I haven’t used it since June because I can’t shuffle it. I wonder about buying the newer version with the new card stock but idk - groceries have reduced my deck budget (again).

creators like the one from the marigold tarot who create a pip deck and then slap random RWS meaning in a guidebook…. Girl… no. I mean, it makes it more marketable I guess.

Such a pity about the Dream Vision Tarot. It is such exquisite art but if you can't shuffle it without fear of damaging it, which is a well-founded fear, then it does render it useless. The second edition seems quite different, at least what I've seen on IG. Maybe she'll change the card stock. The second edition of the Meraki has a different card stock. Please don't be so hard on yourself about the RWS/pip mash-up. Read it any way you like OR maybe it's a deal breaker and that's ok. LOL #nomoretarotguilt
