What I love about the Triassic period is it’s just more unique in variety of animals than the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Also the fact that the Triassic period was the only time of the Mesozoic era that didn’t have any colossal sauropods or large predators.

But I think we could consider Gojirasaurus the biggest Triassic carnivorous dinosaur and Isanosaurus the biggest Triassic herbivore right? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Herrerasaurus is definitely a dinosaur. Herrerasaurus was an early dinosaur of the triassic period which is the period in which dinosaurs started to appear. I think Herrerasaurus lived in the late triassic period. Anyways, it’s definitely a dinosaur and a cool one like all of them.

It hurts my brain to think about how the time gap between these guys and Tyrannosaurus is more than twice that between Tyrannosaurus and us.

Dinosaurs are archosaurs. I think what you mean is a pre-dinosaur archosaur or early cousin to dinosaurs. Since its inclusion into the Dinosauria clade there has been a debate if this dinosaur was a precursor to theropods or sauropods, or represented the common ancestor to both.

There was a Herrerasaurus enclosure in the original Jurassic park. It can be seen on the map prop used in the film. They never actually made it on screen however due to how similar they looked to the way they chose to depict the velociraptors which of course was all wrong. This guy could of become a star back in 1993.
