Nice job showing us the difference between the 3 kits. I have the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple. Love that kit ... All Yamaha drums sound good, even their Stage Customs sound good if they are tuned correctly. Also, their hardware makes setting up the toms easy!! Thanks again for sharing ... Keep playing those drums young lady. You sound like a true champion.

Love the sounds. Wish all used the same heads. Love the maple kick drums, but like the rec custom toms.

From what I can glean, the overtones go deeper into the full frequencies with the Hybrids more than the others. The Live has a very similar, although slightly less open sound than the Hybrids. The RC's have coated heads which confound any thoughts I might have about them, so I won't make a comment as to their sound.
My winner from this is the Hybrids.

I love the sound of the three of them. I would have loved that the new recording customs had the interior finish as the previous generation. Custom Oak they sound great, great interior finish, and are the least expensive of them all.

I have the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid maple drums and they're great! Very high quality, no defects and the sound is awesome. Very versatile set. The recording customs sound nice. However, I have played older Absolute Maple Custom drums and my Absolute Hybrids sound better than the older ones. In my opinion, Yamaha reinvested, intelligently in a new drum facility, spent some money on R&D and now make their own shells, in house and the results are astounding. Yamaha can now claim 'ownership' of their drums, unlike ever before. Well done, Yamaha! Your shells sound better than Sakae's, to my ears. The proof: I played Sakae made Yamaha shells and didn't desire to own them. However, I own Yamahas 'in-house' made shells and the fact that they're made in China means nothing. The bass drums are, fuller and deeper, the toms can be, 'jazzy' or 'rocky' or whatever you want them to be. Haven't mounted a drumhead on them that they didn't like. I don't experience this, often. When I set them up, play them, hear them and break them down and put them in their cases, I obsess about playing them, again, again and again. The vintage finish is beautiful! I can't believe I own them. Thanks, Yamaha!

Pretty much any kit will sound good with someone like her playing it. I'm not that familiar with her work, but damn she's a beast!

This Girl could play my Drum set. & she would still sound Extreme on Drum's. Her 2018 Drum solo was Fantastic & Iconic, i really hope & Pray that she doe's more Drum Solo's for 2018, i like her so much more then other Drummer's. & she alway's bow's with respect Senri Kawaguchi is a Iconic Drummer :-) :-) . Doe's anyone hear know if she will do anymore Drum Solo's for 03-10-2018 ??.

As someone who owns a Live Custom and regularly plays a recording custom. The two are insanely close in the high toms, the live custom almost has an advantage if you like the dark modern sound. Where the recording custom is unbeaten is the floor tom and lower toms, they resonate just right not thuddy like the stage customs and not pinched like the Live custom.

All sound great, but the Live Customs' fullness and projection does it for me!

Not surprisingly, I liked the Recording Customs the best by a mile.

Considering the Live Custom kit is about half the price of the Recording Custom kit, I don't hear a major difference.

I have Original Recording Customs, Maple Custom Absolutes, Club Customs and the new Hybrids and I can say the new Chinese Hybrids are the best Yamaha kit I have ever owned and I have owned them all. Don't put a flag on quality, really play them and you'll see.

Excellent video. Recording custom more resonance and volume. Absolute is but focused and Live Custom is warmer and shorter in resonance.

would be nice if they all had the same heads. the recording custom sounds great to me. the other two are basically the same drums..
