In the military, 3 types of people make life difficult based on how they prioritize tasks. The Slacker puts off work until the last minute. The Spotlight Ranger focuses on what the Boss is focused on. And the Blue Falcon works too hard on the wrong tasks. Understanding each and where you fit it can make you more successful.

Great video. All of these terms address the Ringelmann effect - social loafing - the tendency of exerting less effort when working as part if a group than when working alone.

To be successful in the military, with the high taskload, those who make it through a career become adept social loafers.

Blue Falcon -> Connector or Maven
Spotlight Ranger -> Pitch Man
Slacker -> Clutch Player

There's a little bit of these archetypes in all of us, and as I look back on my career I can distinctly label which one I was at each time. Folks who are really adept service members can jump back and forth between these roles as required.

This has to be the craziest video I’ve ever seen. And, admitting in public that one is a Blue Falcon takes a lot of 🏐🏐

I'm a slacker with my own tasks. Part of the way I procrastinate is by helping others. My peer reviews are always great but my own stats? Not so much. If I keep this tendency in mind it's not too bad.

These archtypes are crucial to step one ‘know thyself’. It’ll help balance task saturation vs task completion in an organization.

Slacker 6 here. If nothings going on then I’m not going to create work. 😊

Hmmm, I think most of us move between these three depending upon situation even if one type is dominant. I tend to the slacker, but have jumped into both other pools at times (or have been tossed into them).

Not a slacker here, but in my experience, ~50% of your problems evolve into non-problems with the passage of time - and - inaction. I always admired slackers’ ability to get the job done - just in time, but couldn’t bring myself to emulate them.

See this is why it's important not to worry about being a jack of all trades, master of none - I can identify with all of these characters, I'm a well rounded piece of $hit

love to agree with ya but this isn't really what a blue falcon is. a blue falcon is someone lobbing people under the boss to suck up and look good. there is also the rare evil blue falcon who will set people up to break the rules then report them for their own gain. eg the blue falcon is smoking weed with everyone and then reports everyone except himself when they're found out. even kids understand what a blue falcon is because they understand that ratting on someone to a teacher is dickish. say little johnny pulls a keycap off the keyboard by accident, and little suzy says "ms johnny broke the keyboard", well suzy isn't being helpful, she's just being a little shit.

it's all perspective, a slacker is someone who doesn't waste energy, a spotlight ranger is someone who excels at tasks, and your version of a blue falcon is just someone who keeps on top of everything. if all 3 of them fail to perform their duties/tasks then they are simply shammers using different shams. the slacker is a shammer betting on being invisible via evasion of detection, the spotlight ranger is a shammer betting on the good outweighing the bad, and your blue falcon is a shammer that hopes if he looks like he's really really busy people will buy it.
