At VCU Massey Cancer Center, we understand how important it is to have open, honest conversations about cancer. Through this video series called Real Cancer Talk, Massey shares stories from the community and in our cancer center about aspects of cancer not widely discussed.

The Virginia Firefighters for Lifelong Health registry is a research initiative by VCU Massey Cancer Center, the Firefighter Cancer Support Network - Virginia (FCSN) and other partners. The FCSN and other firefighter organizations plan to use the data to lobby for additions to the Virginia Code for occupational diseases; currently, leukemia, pancreatic, prostate, rectal, throat, ovarian, breast, colon, brain and testicular are the only cancers included.
In this Real Cancer Talk video, Prince William County, Va. firefighter Luis Salazar shares his cancer journey and why there is a need for greater protections for these individuals who answer the call when communities need it the most.
