A Cutlass is supposed to be a heavier blade because it was meant to be an all purpose tool like a door breaker and knife for boarding a ship

Practice each day-then it will feel like a wand

Another top post - thanks for sharing. I wonder if tennis racket handle tape might work too? I've got the much smaller Condor Moonshiner and I've seen vids with racket tape being used just for extra grip. Perhaps it's heavier too which may redress the balance issue a bit? Just an idea.

how about this?
drill holes in the wood and squeeze some lead balls in there, then seal it with epoxy and cover the handle with a single piece of leather
it would shift the point of balance and with the leather(when done properly) certainly look pretty nice like an old sword
also would the leather ad some texture to the handle and in addition protect the metal of the tang against rust from your hands

I use hockey stick tape and always wrap from pommel to cross guard!

Ultimately you’d need to add a pommel. I feel it’s a bad sword and bad machete. But I have one because it looks cool

Old video, but I did something similar to an big machete, I drilled a hole to the bottom and placed a little weight there

It's a cutlass nad not a bloody knife! It's supposed to be blade heavy!

Just replace that ugly guard, to thin. 3 to 4 mm thick stock would do perfectly and add correct balance, a couple of hours work and you're laughing, don't forget one thing mate, swords should be blade heavy, you just control where it goes and let it do the work.

or you could remove metal from the blade... take the spine down till weight is even but either or.
