Well, guess I am holding off on making building guides again.
A new building Mechanic leaked in the community, which seems to be in the files of Worlds Part 1, but was not enabled. Some Diligent modders managed to get it to work, so lets check it out.

If snapping ends up changing and this becomes a sort of "snap" to a 3D grid instead of snap to objects, it's going to make everything infinitely easier. Especially for freighter building. Imagine having catwalks not needing to be wire glitched just for small elevation changes. Instead you just "snap" them to a lower point on the 3D grid.

I completely agree, this would be a great feature as long as it’s something we have control over to enable/disable. Thanks Beebs, this is yet another good video.

A very good case of the adage
"work smarter, not harder".

Looks like a building upgrade to me. Awesome!

Even if this does replace the existing mechanic, it's good, but it'll take time to adapt.

That said, I really hope this is in addition to the existing system, not replacing.

Oh my gosh... I plan all of my NMS builds isometrically. This will make things so much easier

Sadly Sean would have been fired from every engineering job after designing tools for the devs to use. Spent literally an hour trying to get a piece to snap in place. The snap point would appear, but the block could not be brought any closer to the point due to the lack of any means to do so. Using the camera... doesn't work when that view is limited by other blocks that are usually in the way, denying the user room to move. At the point the engineer called Sean tells the devs they need to remove the other blocks so they can get the snap point to work.... Sean is shown the door. Be like the manufacturer of a car telling the drivers the brakes function better if you drag your feet outside the door.

like a version of base builder app for NMS to let consoles enjoy what PC's have been doing for years... interesting

Thank you so much for the tips, especially the Walker location. My 71 year old Mom loves this game, but due to painful arthritis in her hands she doesn’t have the coordination that she used to, and she has been struggling trying to get through 5 waves of sentinels. I even tried to join her, and help her with the sentinel waves, but for some reason it bugged out and she didn’t get credit for the walker at the end, but I did. Although she did have her Monitor clunking about and fighting with us lol, and I’m wondering if it actually got the last kill shot on the Walker instead of her, and maybe that’s why it didn’t credit her? But then I only shot its knees and I got credit, so go figure. Anyway, I can’t wait to tell her about ur method and location. Ur awesome 🤩.

This very similar to the way buildong works in Starfield.

We don’t have Build camera in VR you just fly around with your Jetpack building manually.

This new feature could either be really bad or really good. I'm hoping for really good!

This can’t be HG answer to us asking for an up and down in the build cam? Hmmm.. this may have some potentially interesting applications to building. But, I have to agree. I hope they don’t ditch the old build cam for this new feature. We will just have to see

Im waiting for multiple parts marking to copy&paste/move in 3d or 2d/delete/snap to other part. This would speedup building drasticaly. And If u could snap parts under specific angle counter or clockwise it would be amazing.

Very interesting
Lets hope it doesnt break anything, and i agree i would definitely miss the current build-cam

What i am thinking about this new feature is it's going to be for the exterior building then once you go inside the building it changes to the old "free cam" build camera because if they would completely remove the old one then how are people suppose to change there freighter bases if it uses that new camera angle?.
