I know next to nothing about cooking, but the reason I watched Masterchef Australia is because of normal, down-to-earth people like Ben and Andy having a go at something they are passionate about, with their love for it far outweighing a commonplace goal to win and earn popularity. From the get go, the show was less a competition than it was a close-knit community of people who worked their butts off to learn, cook and find out new things to keep getting better. The way they supported each other to put up their best is a far cry from the self-centered lessons we are taught today. We are constantly taught to outperform, outwit and outsmart everyone else, who are labelled 'opponents' instead of normal people just as eager to contribute as we are, if only we can sacrifice our ego and narrow-minded approach to glean as much knowledge as we can from them. It is so rare to find people who genuinely care about what they do more than the perks associated with it, and Ben is the perfect exemplar of the kind of learners we need to be! Truly an inspiration, God bless you, dear Bendy! ;)
