Corridos are ballads based on true stories and events that take place in communities where individuals of Mexican descent reside. They help tell stories of Latinos in Idaho dating back to 1860 and the role they played in shaping part of Idaho's history.

Accomplished musicians and composers Juan Manuel Barco from Seattle, WA, Bonifacio Dominguez from Lewiston, ID, and Boise-based cultural activist, Ana Maria Schachtell, gave a series of corrido/song writing workshops in Mountain Home, Twin Falls, Nampa and Boise which culminated at the Nuestros Corridos Concert 2019 that took place in the spring of 2019 at the Egyptian Theatre in Boise, Idaho.

The evening comprised of music, storytelling and dancing based on the stories included in the book, “Nuestros Corridos: Latinos in Idaho, Idaho Latino History through Song and Word 1863-2013.”

Creators, Makers, & Doers highlights the lives and work of Boise artists and creative individuals. Selected profiles focus on individuals whose work has been supported by the Boise City Dept. of Arts & History.
