The announcement tomorrow doesn't matter. What matters is that we will immediately get all youtube (sponsored) reviews !!! ;)

Are you going to do a follow up video about the camera now that it is announced

Any news or rumors for a 2nd announcement this spring from Panasonic. Maybe an S1H?

Looks like very good specs and very competitive price; looking like an ever improving system - L Mount especially with more releases of lenses from Sigma announced yesterday; although won't tempt many users from Nikon, Canon or Sony to switch over

I'm not sure there is any sensor available right now that is appropriate for an S1H II, it will need high specs that really belong in a box camera so I'd venture to guess there will be no S1H II and this will be Panasonic hybrid do it all.
on the same note I doubt we'll see Canon r5c II or even an FX3 II .
the trend is set on higher end and more expensive full frame video camera's like the Canon C400 and its sibling the C80.
if Sony mange to enable BRAW recording to BMD video assist it will give the current line some more life and will only be available in a few months.. so they are not in any hurry.

I think the price is great IF dynamic range really does approach 14 stops (I need Gerald Undone to put it on the bench). If so I daresay this is a superior camera to the Z8 or original R5 for the same money and will be arguably a match for the R5 Mk ii for a much more affordable price. That said I agree Panasonic is slightly gimping this model in terms of things like codecs to give them some room to differentiate an S1H II.

Defensive pricing, that is, getting well ahead of inflation.

Not following the reasoning here at all. The S1Rii is cheaper than the S1R was because of increased competition in the mid-high-range FF market- Nikon and Canon weren't as competitive at the time the S1 and S1R came out.

The S1Rii price being above $3K leaves MORE room for an S1-ish cam below it, not less. S5ii/X can fill that space for another year or so, then be replaced with something more directly S1-ey.

The S1Rii seems great but I think once the other cam(s) drop, its video capabilities relative to the other cams and the rest of the market won't be terribly different than the S1R's were. Remember the S1R offered some very unique capabilities at its time.

As for "8.1K max res means the S1Hii will do full DCI 8K", not seeing that either. Pretty sure the S1Hii will stay relatively low-res and will push frame rates and DR instead. OLPF and maybe internal ND because it's a heavily-video-leaning hybrid.

As far as current models go, I really think nothing touches the R5 II in terms of video chops. We'll have to wait for the FX-3 II and rumored, (hoped?) to be buried A7S IV as to Sony's reply to the latest raft of video-centric cameras. Nikon could go one way or the other with an updated Z-8 but my money's on a brand new Red-influenced entry.

Preordering makes no sense. In two month you will get a big discount already. It's a Lumix ;))

Don’t forget though the Z 8 will already be 2 years old by May .
