In Australia we have yellow L plates that are mandatory to use while learning under supervision. They help identify new drivers so other drivers on the road can keep more distance and go around them. I personally remember when I was a learner and try to make them feel comfortable and not honk or get mad.

If Claire doesn't have much experience driving, I wonder if she will develop any different tendencies than other drivers who first learned in gasoline or diesel powered ICE vehicles? I'm very curious to learn how the prevalence of electric vehicles will affect new, younger drivers, if at all moving into the future.

My daughter learned to drive in Los Angeles a few years ago and used a bright yellow "Student Driver" magnet sticker in the rear untilshe was comfortable. Other drivers are more forgiving and patient when they know someone is learning to drive. As for car, the standard range Model 3, like your loaner, would be a perfect first car and qualifies for the full $7500 federal rebate this year.

It’s so crazy to watch these kids grow up, Lincoln is a stud and Claire is such a net young lady! You got this kid!

She learned more on her first day driving than I did. I started in a college campus parking lot and my dad had to trick me into getting on the real roads. I would recommend getting student driver magnets for your car if you don’t already have them. They helped me a lot while I was learning to drive

I remember teaching my son to drive. I love making those memories with my kids. But I bought him a 1996 BMW Z3 roadster with a 5spd. He really wanted to learn how to drive a manual. And I was excited he wanted to. A lot of kids don't know how to drive a manual. He loves the car, and it's cool and fun to drive.

Edit: I swear every time I post a comment there is ALWAYS a fight in the replies…

Claire grew really fast, 🫡😊 keep your head up my dear Claire.

Claire will surely grow up to be beautiful and decent lady. I pray that Hollywood wouldn't destroy her. God Bless you and your family 😊

Take her to a K1 cart racing. Both of my sons have driven there and after driving those cart racing cars they got a feeling of what cars can do. They have seen how other people drive and they were intimidated at first but they have learned to become more a defensive driver. Way to be a patient parent she definitely seemed more confident on the way back from lunch.

When I did my 1st time in driving that I was 16 years old for Driver’s Ed in high school back in 1986. I even had a friend of mine in the car and the teacher. I was so nervous at 1st. I did pretty good job. There was cars when I first drive a car. It was a 1985 or 1986 Ford Tempo. It was easy for me since my mother had a 1985 Ford Tempo. That did helped me to get used to the car a little bit. Even my father took me out driving around a parking lot of this junior college near us. I did pretty good in parking. I did sucked in the class and driving. I waited for almost 13 years for my license. My 1st car was a 1998 Ford Contour that I gotten in mid October 1999. I gotten my license in mid December 1999. I was 29 years old. I had different vehicles over the years. My current vehicle is a 2020 Ford Escape.

Great driving instructor and very good driving Claire for her first drive! Model X is quite the vehicle for someone who’s just learning to drive. Hats off for the good driving and parking! Defiantly not easy to do. She will pick it up in no time! I would get her a Tesla (either 3 or Y) cause safety is number one especially when it’s your own kid.
