Usually, when a movie ends, that’s the last time you ever get to hear from those characters again. Unless there’s a sequel, you’re pretty much left to imagine your own path for the characters, but the creators of one beloved movie have decided to weigh in on what happens after the credits roll.

Script editor Emma Freud -- who's also the wife of Love Actually director Richard Curtis -- has finally answered a few fan questions about the modern Christmas classic, including what she and her husband believe the characters would do after the end of the film. Let’s take a look at the sad truth of what happens after Love Actually ends.

What other movies should we breakdown next?

I will always love the part where Rowan Atkinson keeps taking a long time with that necklace.

After the Christmas party when Mia doesn't get Harry, her bed is perfectly made. Later, when she puts the necklace on, her bed is messed up. I've always believed this indicates that she and Harry have had sex.

Harry and Karen's relationship totally ruined this movie for me. I know cheating happens everyday and probably the message here is that forgiveness is also a way of showing love, but it felt very bad. All the time I was hoping for him to give the necklace to his wife, I was like begging for it. When he didn't, my heart broke in pieces. I felt so happy seeing love everywhere and how it can exist in so many different ways, how it can break language barriers, age, everything... and then bam! back to cruel reality.

The Harry/Mia affair was so unconvincing though cos Harry never seemed a team player in it. He just sort of ambled with whatever Mia said like 'Oh, we're having an affair? Okay then'

Love Actually, is one of my all time favorite movies. I’ve watched it at least seven dozen times between my DVD and on television.

The story of Karen and
Harry is so sad. Okay we all know it's just a movie, but I like happy endings!
The scene with Rowan Atkinson as a salesman is so funny and so are the reactions from Harry, aka Alan Rickman.

Karl’s kind of a tool. He didn’t seem to concerned for Sarah after what appeared to be a distressing phone call. Guess I’m not getting any tonight and should go home. He didn’t even pretend to be interested in dealing with that stuff.

I was always slightly worried about how Marks story ended, he deserved to be happy.

Relieved at the Harry/Mia retcon. I'm fine with a flirtation - the alternative was heartbreaking.

The sad reality seems that the most tragic parts of the these love stories are the most real. True love only exists in our fantasies.

I am glad that Richard Curtis has reassessed the Harry/Mia “affair”. I always thought/think that it was “ just a necklace”. He never seems to be totally engaged in a major attraction thing but just sort of complimented that a pretty girl was aggressively pursuing him. I think he thoughtlessly just did as he was told. Not obviously his best moment. He confesses to being a “classic fool” at the kids’ concert. But he never appeared to be swept away with passion for her. Therefore, I think that Richard Curtis is perfectly right in his re-evaluation of that relationship. Not love at all but a path of least resistance. Almost as if he is putting a Christmas gift for the girl on his “honey do” list without putting any real thought into it. Just sayin’.

The part that gets me each time is when Jamie has bid goodbye to Aurelia, and she is walking away from his car, and you can tell that she is sad.
I always wished that Jamie would have jumped out of his car and approached her, and motioned somehow that he was in love with her, and asking through motion if she felt the same - and then to ideally pursue a courtship together before approaching a marriage proposal.

Man, I'd love to see a proper Love Actually sequel, but without Alan Rickman it wouldn't be the same

I just bought this yesterday @ our local Goodwill still in the original packaging for $2.99. I thought it was a great deal!

Alan Rickman and Rowan Atkinson...how many time do you think they had to shoot that scene because Alan kept cracking up??
The Odd Couple to say the least! They remind me of Tim Conway and Harvey Korman, I just think Alan would be suffering trying NOT to lose it!
