The towers you see in the early maps is the airstrip, which would have originally connected to the plaza rather than being a boat ride away. Unused text refers to a level called Lighthouse Island, which the airstrip might have inherited the location of while the lighthouse was relocated to the plaza.

Wish the gigaleak contained a beta of this game, same with Luigi's Mansion...
These games seem to have very interesting development histories where now I'm not so sure we'll ever get to have a better glimpse of.

Remember seeing the big enemy years ago in a test map, that TERRIFIED me

I'm knew about some of the cut content like the big guy strolling through town there and the oddity of that book, but I didn't know we now actually have early map layouts and recreations of them, this has been an enjoyable watch and I'm looking forward to part 2 whenever that drops keep it up Gamer man, you are doing great.

Mario Sunshine needed 6 months more in development to flesh things out.

Well, technically, yoshi turns green for a few seconds right before he runs out of juice and dies 6:31

Yoshi may have been planned to be used in Noki Bay, Corona Mountain, and the casino in Sirena Beach as versions of the respective areas music with Yoshi bongos exist in the game’s coding; he was most likely cut from the former 2 areas due to the large amount of water and lava respectively in those areas as Yoshi can’t swim in Super Mario Sunshine.

Water Barrels weren't even removed from the Plaza/Game, they're in the early Delfino Plaza variants in the final game.

Thank you so much for the tutorial and for putting this video together!

Those portals to the other levels makes me wonder if some or all of them were meant to be connected at some point, instead of Delfino Plaza being the exclusive way to travel between them. Reminds me of how SMW would let you find shortcuts to later levels earlier in the game, or how Odyssey would let you travel to other worlds through the paintings.

Super Mario Sunshine just seems like a game where I'll always learn something new about it. I have never seen the early Pinna Park with Mecha Bowser screenshot for example. I really enjoy these videos and I'll definitely look forward to more!

Not all the hidden levels have impossible 100 coin spawn locations cause if you collect 99 coins in the main level you keep them into the secret level as long as you dont die in the level. So a fair few of them are not unused. I have done this in the switch version of Sunshine

The secret door and book in Noki Bay is quite possibly one of the coolest easter eggs in any video game ever. It's just an awesome thing to discover, and the backstory behind it is fascinating. I'm sure that at least one person here in the comments has already mentioned this, but it wasn't just for decoration. It was part of a scrapped mission where you were suppose to go retrieve the book for one of the Noki. Anyway, if they ever make a remake or remaster, I hope they keep it in the game because I will be very upset if they don't. That book is legendary, much like Super Mario 64's "L is real 2401".

Love your videos, man. You never fail to show me interesting tidbits on my favorite games. I always make sure to stop the videos just before the end so you don't shout at me, haha. Much love.

Sunshine was Odyssey before the Switch was even an idea. If they hadn't rushed things, it probably would have been much bigger and better than it ended up being

I love Sunshine and Delfino Plaza but that beta versions lay out looks really good.

6:33 Green Yoshi is in the final game, but he only turns green when he completely runs out of juice and starts to blink. You can even see the Green Yoshi in its full glory if you collect a shine sprite while Yoshi is in that state.

I've always theorized that the book within Noki Bay was a stage entrance similar to Big Boo's Haunt in M64.

So I gotta know where this tidal wave of SMS beta info came from all a sudden?? Stg I've seen more cut content this year than the last 15 years prior, was a trickle in comparison lmao.
