Canon 60D in 2021

The Canon 60d was released back in 2010. At the time, it cost around $1,100. Nowadays you can find it used for around $260. So, is it still worth it? Let’s take a look.

I used a 60D to shoot MotoGP in 2013 and 2014 and other motorsports, later I upgraded to D850 (Sold it recently due to reliability issues), But, I still have the 60D with me with everything working as intended, It's 10 years old now.

I still have a 60D and believe me all my customers are quite satisfied with their portraits. Inside a properly lit studio with good lenses, you can still take pro pics using 60D. It still depends on what project you are going to shoot with the camera. I think good lighting along with a pack of good lenses is still the most important part of photography.

I have used the 60D for many years, and it is capable for most things, but the auto focus misses more than it hits. I would recommend something else in the price range or slightly more expensive. The technology advances since this was new has provided a market of much better cameras. Thank you for reviewing old gear. Great honest video.

70d was quite the revolutionary camera, especially because it was the first with duel pixel, excellent video!

Woof. I own 2 and have been sitting on selling them for a while but I dread just trying to find a price point in which people will actually take it. They proved me true for half a decade but it really is time for an upgrade. I just can barely justify the time cost for the amount of return haha.

Cool video and I just scored one of these for $150 off Ebay! Why are you using the AF points for portrait work? Use live view mode and you have face detection which is quite superior. You also arent forced to look thru that tiny little EVF either. Also, 24 and 30fps for video is fine. Most filmmakers shoot in 24fps. No reason to shoot at 60fps unless you are slowing all your footage down. No AF is a much bigger issue ha. I shoot portraits professionally and been using live view for years on the older DSLRs, works great and the prices on these older cameras are a steal right now.

Thanks for the video, I started this hobby a couple of years ago with a really old nikon camera that had really outdated and hard to set settings so when I found a canon 60d in my dad's closet the camera felt really good in my hands. But then I realized that this camera was from 10 years ago and I felt like maybe I can upgrade it to something else and I'm also finding reasons for why I should upgrade it since I don't have much experience with other cameras other than the 2 I've used before.
But yes AF is pretty bad I've never turned that on after I learned that I can use MF so yea I'm used to manually focusing when I take pictures now lol

A friend gave me a 60d. So it is still much better than my 500d. Ive wanted o have a semipro dslr like the 50d, and suddenly a friend gave me a 60d. So yeah, in 2021, i am glad that i can use a 60d. Cant afford any of those newer semipros anyway.

Today, bought a canon 60D of e-Bay or $269. Will be mainly used for Astrophotography. It only has about 20k on the shutter too.

Nine autofocus points... 40 autofocus point.. but the true is that there is always only one plane of focus!

I've taken thousands of pictures with this camera and as an amateur with some knowledge I've been able to take very nice pictures. The body feels pretty sturdy but it's so heavy I've never even bothered to try to take it outside (also I just have one 24-70 objective so, yeah, it's a triffle bigger than an Iphone :)
Thanks for your video, pretty useful and easy to understand, maybe I'll take the eos 70 but I'll miss the big one...
btw eos 70 currently costs >450€ in France...damn
