My Struggle by Karl Ove Knausgård | What made me read all these..?

I finally did it. I have tried to summarize why I kept on reading Knausgårds My Struggle series. As a Norwegian there are few authors that has gotten more attention than Knausgård and I thought I would absolutely despise these books, but I did not.

Excellent! Throughout the video you said I think about or thought about many times. That is a primary reason his books draw one along, he brings you to think. That is a written skill not to be taken lightly.

Yeah I found a Norwegian booktuber. Best wishes from the other side of the Baltic see. Right now I'm reading the second one, kind of struggled to read that, but I learn a lot. I think young people (as I am you too) should read those to learn more about emotions and about interesting situations of life, like fathers death.

Good video ! I Spoke about this author with my Norwegian teacher and he asked me to give a try. I'm not sure to manage to read all the six book but I will give a try by reading the two first one at least 😊

Read them all too, over the course of ten years. Well, I read the first three and listened to the last three on audiobook. They are all kind of anti-climactic, though I liked the 2nd book. The story with Tonje was not well enough addressed. I wish my Norwegian was better (my fourth language), so that I could listen to the Tonje interviews she did to tell her side. In Min kamp 6, it was interesting how his uncle said he lied about how much of an asshole his father was.

I'm glad it was an effort that was worthwhile for you. I don't know if I could read such a series. There are a few that have piqued my interest in the past, but the time taken is so long. Perhaps if I have a long commute in a future job, I would be able to listen to it.

Thank you. I read 3 of these books and enjoyed them enough that I had to read certain pages out loud to my partner. I wanted to hear someone else's impressions. A lot of writers are narcissists... meaning they are good observers of people and also solipsistic and lonely.

And by the way, no, I didn't see myself in anything of what he wrote (I only read the fist book, as you probably know by now, heh).

hei Øystein: Litt off-topic men...I dag leste jeg NRK sin bokanmeldelse om Jon Fosse's bok 'Kvitleik'. Overskriften er: har følelsen av å ha lest den før. Vært interessant hva du synes om boka😀

Why do we say Børgen. when talking english, while the actual pronunciation is Beeeerrrrgen

it's the norwegian title. If you translate it word for word into German, Hitler wrote a book with the same title in German. I think it was about war related. Stuff and led to WW2. The Germans had or hav forbidden reprinting the book and political parties of the kind who was involved in the war. Therefor Knausgård's bok had got another title when if was translated.(that was a little history lesson from a girl born and got to school in Germany😀)
