This is exactly why I love this hobby. 🙂 We receive valuable information about this hobby from people in different countries, whom I may never meet in my lifetime. Even though we don't speak the same language or live in the same countries, this hobby brings us together in front of a birdcage. Thank you very much for these valuable insights and the video. Greetings from Turkey.🐦

Hello, thank you for your work, I suggest that during the interview with the beach breeders to show the bird rooms and cages in a beautiful way and how to raise them and the diseases that affect birds, especially black spot disease , thank you so much .

Hi Matt, I congratulate you on breeding such beautiful birds, I have a question, if I mate an orange male canary with a yellow female canary, what color will the chicks be?

I'm sorry but to me, this shows all that is going wrong in the fancy & particular in the Border Canary. Phil admits to using incubators because hens won't sit, you've had them for 60 years, surely that's more important to fix then chasing rosettes at shows. Yes the Fifes are more free breeders than Borders but a leading fancier has said they are not so prolific as they were 20 years ago. On Matt's web site he says when he started 6 hens bred over 40 young: a ratio of 7 per hen, this year it's down to 3.2. Surely the writing is on the wall there as well.
I've just retired & was looking for a hobby, I had exhibition budgies in 1975, I liked canaries & made contact with some Fife fanciers, I was warned off Borders as they want too much money & they are difficult to breed. So I will start with a few Fifes & Colour canaries. The Glosters I've seen on videos certainly aren't diminutive, nothing like the ones I saw at Alexandra Palace in the 70's. Keith Ferry has lovely Norwich which are a credit to him.
I have seen pics of the ideal Fife, something which looks like a freak, I have no intention of breeding anything like that, a cartoon caricature. The exhibition budgie has gone too far, you would think fanciers would learn from pedigree dogs, show points can be taken to extremes.

Matt, during these interviews, unfortunately you’re talking far too much, you need to find the right questions that will allow your guest to do all the talking. Worth a try buddy?
