Windows 10 1511 USB Stick Creation and Clean Install (Fall Update/Threshold 2/10586)

Looking at creating a USB installer for Windows 10 Version 1511 (also known as the Fall Update, Threshold 2 or Build 10586) and carrying out a clean install on a system which had previously been running Windows 10 Build 10240.

With version 1511 do you have to upgrade your computer first to activate or can I just wipe my system and do a clean install and use the Windows 7 product key on my netbook to activate it now? That's how Microsoft seems to state it on their website now. I know for the original 10240 release version you had to upgrade first before doing clean installs to activate.

+Bruce computing I upgraded before using win 10 version 10240 if I want to clean install it to version 10586, is the activation key that I got from win 10 10240 is valid to this version of windows 10 10586?.

I'm currently using Windows 10 Pro and i'm having some problems upgrading it to Ver.1511. It goes all the way to 100% and says "There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:" and all i can do is Retry.. did it 4 times and got the same result.. Will I be able to upgrade to 1511 using this ISO and keep all my current apps and files?
