Radeon Retrospective: HD 7870 GHz Edition and RX 480

We promised this Radeon Retrospective for the past year, we finally delivered. How far has Radeon come since GCN 1.0 in their Mainstream Market? We compare based on Class and Die size with the Radeon HD 7870 and the Radeon RX 480.

I just built a gaming computer with this graphics card. 2GB of vid. ram is a little low for vid ram, but the card still get the job done. I have played many AAA game titles with this card card, and if I don't crank up the settings, it will play between 30 to 60 fps all day, which is playable. I get 30 to 60 or MORE fps out of this card on WW2 (the newest version) or Battlefield 5, and that's on middle settings. If I turn settings to low, this card can get over 100 fps on these games. So for a older card, I was kinda impressed. I really didn't expect this card to do that good. With graphics card prices as high as they are right now, I had to try something different though. But I think it all worked out good with this card!!!! Don't knock them until you try

This video is flawled.

The RX 480/580 are midrange TODAY in TODAY's lineup. The Vega 56/64 are high end and AMD has currently no enthusiast grade GPU.

The HD 7870 GHz was high end in HD 7000 lineup, with the 7950/7970 (and GHz versions) being enthusiast GPUs.

If you want to compare mainstream GPUs, the comparison should've been done with either the HD 7770 or 7790.

PS: The fact this video doesn't include the modern RX 580 is a bit annoying.
