Why PIPER PLANES are so Good

Almost all airplanes are good for traveling, especially when compared to cars, and there is no best traveling aircraft; it’s all about the mission; like how far you need to go, how much you need to carry, and most importantly; your budget. This video covers the best Piper planes for several different missions for personal pleasure travel.

Own a Piper Tomahawk PA 38-112 and love every single minute of it. Does what I want for my mission. Plus burn 3.8 to 5.5 per gallon with fuel prices going up. I'll just leave earlier to meet up.

I love my archer 2, in 20 yrs it has flown me from coast to coast. Not fast but economical. Still better than flying commercial today with all the hassles.

There is no debate about those engine problems. Unlike the first two prototype engines which were near perfect, there was a problem with achieving volumetric symmetry per stroke in the induction system. Continental had almost thrown there hands up and Piper took matters into their own hands to discover the problem with symmetry. It was found that due to this instability, fuel charge changed quite a bit per stroke. So the pilot would “set” 50° lean and then random cylinders would hit peak or richer. Along with a couple of Fuel pump quality issues that were mostly found at the Piper factory, it was time to change engines.
As we say in Florida, there is a reason you don’t run a Continental on your airboat.

Thank you for this review, it covered most of the bases. I flew the Arrow III to get my commercial ticket in 1979, great little aircraft if a tad slow. The Piper PA-44 Seminole is a very docile aircraft, can chuck 4 adults in it averaging 180 pounds but couldn't add full fuel, and it is slow for a twin, may be 155 to 160 knots depending upon OAT. A friend of mine had a Cherokee 6 then a T-Tail lance, the latter was a beautiful aircraft inside, very nice. In general most Pipers are docile but slow, the fast ones today are insanely expensive, could pick up an old twin for much less.

I used to fly a Warrior 160 HP. It wasn't the fastest, nor had the best interior, but I liked it just as well. The best part of it was the heater. It was so efficient, I actually had to turn it down. I remember flying Cessna aircraft with full heat and still seeing my breath.

Zinc Chromate was a check in the option box for PA-28’s, PA-32’s, PA-34’s and PA-44’s. Yes the Comanche was superior, in many ways, but most buyers selected Zinc coating when buying the aircraft made in the south.

As a former CFI. I preferred teaching in a PA over the C-172.

I always like the PA-28 "Hershey Bar" wing. Straight and simple. I understand the leading edge taper of the later wing design improved stability in a stall.

I really want to own a Comanche 400... Has a io-720 that is an 8 cylinder engine, it's the freaking hot rod of the skies! Not to mention, it's pretty darn quick!!

Come to the Piper Aviation Museum in Lock Haven Pa.! See the real history of how a small town in Pennsylvania built 75000 airplanes! We have the true history of Piper Aircraft. I'm a proud employee of our museum.

Comanche is worth the effort. Twin Comanches are especially sweet machines.

I was going to buy a 67 I think it was Piper Comanche until the bank backed out on me because of the history of the plane couldn't get or find the title. Now fast-forward two years later I've been thinking about the Cessna 206

I just sold my 1975 Warrior. I could sit on those shitty old seats for hours. They were so comfortable. Front or back! Yet when I sit in many modern cars, I can’t wait to get out of those seats. They really are great planes to fly or ride in.

I shouldn't be writing this comment here because my favorit airplane is Piper but, what the heck, I do! Piper is the best of the best talking about aircraft. The one thing I love about Pipers is the wide range of options, quality and of course, sturdiness. For me, Pipers are the "superman" of all personal aircraft. I love Pipers all, from PA18 and Tripacer to Malibu 600. Yes!

The M600 is also ~half the price of a TBM, even with all the latest from Garmin!! It may not be as fast, still a big step up from a piston plane at a more affordable price!! JMHO --gary
