I grew a watermelon in my nans alotment pitch when I was child. I forgot about it until my nan called me one day and I said the melon was ready to harvest, the melon wasn’t ripe enough though and tasted bitter. But that was one of the last memories I had with my nana.

Still had at least a week left to mature on vine. Anyone that has experience growing a similar variety would've recommended not to harvest yet. I was definitely hoping you weren't going to cut it off but then...Hope you left others on longer after that. Watermelon can definitely be grown with success in UK with greenhouse

That watermelon was nowhere near ready based off how green the stem still was 😅 even the inside says it wasn’t ready. When the stem turns brown and is dying off or the nearest tendril that a good indicator that it is ready

watermelons need lots of sun, that watermelon from that tent is to whiteish inside, like a sponge and i guess that is how it tasted. where is that watermelonseed from ? why are there no bees for polination ? you had to do the polination artificially by a little brush to mimik bee polination. good that people grow plants for food. 🍉🍊🍋🍎🍇🍈🍒🍑🍓🌶

Super cool! With the right soil and light, you can grow watermelon anywhere. Now if you tried it straight in UK soil, I doubt you would yield much cos of the soil composition. I can only grow it in Colorado in containers or completely altered beds of soil. Too much clay and other useless sediments.

That had no color. Next time don't water it for 2 weeks before harvest and leave on vine longer

I grew a watermelon tree a few years ago
.
Its massive now and yields several watermelons a year
.
The trick is picking them before they fall out the tree as they explode on impact otherwise

Those plant boxes looks great. So in essense those plant boxes are like wooden pots. But they will rot in years.
