I don’t have a clean up crew. I have a pistol shrimp/goby pair and two Clown fish. Mostly coral. My tank does just fine. I do dose No3PO4x daily so that might be why I don’t have much algae. My tank is only 20 gallons. But yah, no issues. I did ofc have issues in the beginning as many new aquarist do, but my tank eventually overcame it. I’m also debating just not running a skimmer on my tank because I don’t do heavy feeding. And only have the three fish(goby/2 Clowns). And my tank seemed to be happier with it off when I forgot to turn it on for a week. It also looked much more pristine Lol 😂

I've got a 30 gallon reef tank, I'm not sure if there are any fish I could put in there that would handle the algae and wouldn't be too big?

Don’t over stock mimic the ocean and keep it clean that’s as easy as it is other then testing the saltwater I don’t do testing on nitrate phosphate Becuz if u use sea Chem salt mix and do it right and only quarter water change or half every few months or so it’s perfect sometimes weeks depending on how stalked the tank is

Just hope you don’t get a lazy tang. I got a lazy tang at my house. I have a freshwater tank. You do the math.

Not the best advice. A clean up crew is more for preventing an algae outbreak. If you have an algae problem adding more clean up crew won’t really do much. And plus once you get the algae under control they will die from lack of food and your problem starts all over again.
