This is literally happens in Mexico, there’s a show called “el Chavo del 8” where the kids in that show are played by 30-40 year old adults doing high pitch voices.

There is a mexican tv show called "El Chavo del Ocho" which is basically this, the main character, Chavo, is supposed to be a 8 year old boy but is played by a middle aged man and so are all of the children in the show.

Honestly, I'd be fine with taking a huge blow to the quality of media to fight child labor and exploitation. Anyone acting like it wouldn't make films worse is coping, but making it worse is fine.
