Defining Osteomyelitis (OM); Pyogenic & non-pyogenic infections.
STAPH. AUREUS; most common organism in pyogenic OM & importance of this fact in directing empirical antibiotic therapy.
Mycobacterium Tuberculosis; most common organism in non-pyogenic OM.
POTT'S DISEASE; OM involving vertebrae; common in adults.

Pathophysiology of OM; routes of entry of organism into Bone Marrow (BM):
1-Hematogenous spread/route.
OM in children; long bone internal anatomy explained; significance of involvement of Metaphysis of long bones in OM of children.
Pott’s Disease; vertebral involvement through hematogenous route; Bacteremia.

Routes of entry continued;
2-Direct extension from neighboring Soft Tissue Infections; periosteal breach, example: DIABETIC FOOT ULCER.
Mechanism of development of Diabetic Foot Ulcer: Atherosclerosis & Ischemia, Immunocompromised & Infection, Diabetic Neuropathy & inadvertent repetitive trauma.
Ulcer deepens, leading ultimately to OM.
3-Microbes direct implantation into bone: Penetrating injury, surgery & Open Fractures.
How bacteria destroy Periosteum?
Damaging enzymes, inflammation, Oxygen Free Radicals. Periosteum; being relatively resistant to bacterial damage.

This doctor this doctor explains in layman's terms yet covers it completely, root causes, symptoms and their individualities and reasons for such. One of the beautiful methods in which he teaches is he allows for exceptions and often explains them as well. Were there more teachers like him the world would have a lot more doctors. Thank you Dr., you make me wish I would have stayed in medical school...

the top most professor of the world ever I heard and learnt from sir if u would my professor for othopedics it would a boon for me as I have not lost my 1 year but anyhow sir iam not getting the second part of it as the vedio is full of small knowledge which is helpful me for the exams and practice too
