Joan opened with GOD IS GOD when I saw her at the Beacon Theater in early November 2011. I am posting this as my family mourns the death of my nephew, Sylvan Edward Walton, who died today in a skiing accident at age 30. May words and thoughts like these lyrics by Steve Earle help Sylvan's family and many friends heal. "where there is doubt: Faith, where there is despair: Hope, and where there is darkness: Let there be light."
