When he's on good form WVA appears to have better top speed in a sprint than MVPD. I like how he holds his line too. He wins or loses by letting his speed speak for itself. I respect that. Too many sprinters seem to think they're entitled to sweep across the road during sprints. Pogacar is not a sprinter. He's a solid sprinter compared to the GC guys, but he would need to do some things that would kill his climbing ability to get a better sprint, and I don't see that happening.

Van Aert was the one who gave the fewest relays. One in the final two kilometers. Pogačar and MVDP were generous in their attacks and in providing relays in the breakaway. They still managed to congratulate Woutjie without any stinginess. Watching the entire race makes the difference.

Watching this made me think current wout waits too long to attack. He has been waiting until the very last moment to make a move using the rider in front to shield him too long. This version of wout didn’t care and made an attack and went for it without hiding in the wheel for too long. Wout should stop holding the wheel in front to the line, just pick a line and give it full gas like this effort

Wout was supposed to get dropped in this race. But thanks to the motorcycle who crashed and blocked pogi/mvdp, wva was about to recover.
