I am wildly late to this but this is such an amazing animation! Victor and Nina have been some of my favorite characters ever since I saw what happened with them in the game and finding this made me so happy! All the details on the different tragedian masks, the statues, the cards, just the way you draw the two of them in general... It's all so good! The "you're dropping the queen" bit always gives me chills, both the drawing and the lyrics themselves - I love the way you drew it of Nina before her death, showing how she would soon be replaced by Maria, but the words also make me think of how Victor is fighting so hard for so long to keep her soul/memory tethered to the world, but it's all fruitless for over a decade until the events of day 10. Perfect song, perfect art, perfect symbolism. I never see content for these two so this is a huge treat! I hope this animation gets more people to think about their story, because it's so sweet yet tragic and a lot of people completely gloss over it.

Also, don't worry at all about Victor and Nina being mistaken for Daniil/Maria here - your designs are wonderful and very clear! I think a lot of people just aren't used to seeing art of these two, plus the Patho 2 designs being more common nowadays. Victor doesn't look very distinct in Classic, in fact he probably has the most generic outfit in the game, so even though you translate his design excellently those not expecting this to be about him could see the dark hair and suit and assume it's Daniil. Your Nina is also gorgeous and very distinct from Maria but if someone thinks Victor is Daniil here they're bound to assume the other person is Maria since he never meets the original Nina. This animation is delightful and one of my favorite pieces of Pathologic art out there!

Я очень давно не испытывал таких ясных чувств, такой захватывающей, и обволакивающей боли почти незнакомого мне персонажа. Словно терпкая настойка твири, она утопила в себе моё сердце.

I keep coming back to this since the day it released. Every detail mesmerizes me.

The incredible song choice. The butterfly at the beginning as Nina is shown free and running (same pose as her tomb statue) being taxidermized at the end - beauty contained in its glass structure. Victor's empty eyes, a vessel. The splashes of red as the only color being shown only with Nina and Eva, sacrifices to the Focus. The framing of order at the "Captain" lyric part is so great to me, I love it a lot... The drink being poured by Andrey, Utopian ideals, only Nina drinking it; the frame of Victor's wine glass being clear/empty, then only shot glasses... The "Why are you protecting me?" lyric part, the pose is so powerful... The King cards, Maria as Queen and Daniil as Jack, then the allusion to Nina's calculated sacrifice/death as she removes her own Queen card. The half-made sculpture breaking as Polyhedron blueprints appear (this is my FAVOURITE detail, it always gets me). Nina already feeling like a memory with her painting looming over them at the "Last Supper"-esque table, the wine spilling, 2:51 the fate of Kains... The way you draw Nina is so beautiful and enchanting, exactly like I picture she would be.

Your animations are so striking, every frame feels so meaningful and charged with feeling, you can get so many readings out of them. They really feel so true to the nature of Pathologic. I've been a big fan since I first saw your Daniil animation of Фейерверк. This is absolutely one of my new favourite Pathologic fan content ever made. I love Nina a lot, and I love the Utopians, and I love the attention you gave to her relationship with Victor and how wonderfully tragic it's framed. You've mentioned wanting to make more content about the Pathologic families, which I'm really excited about. Thank you for your amazing work!!!

Господи, как она так точно и офигенно подбирает песни?!!! Хаба, по-моему это незаконно, вы арестованы за офигенную анимацию и за то что так хорошо чувствуете персонажей...
У меня прям восторг от момента, когда Нина и Виктор смотрят на друг друга и поют 😭😭😭😭 Я ВООБЩЕ ОТ ВСЕГО В ВОСТОРГЕ.... Это так хорошо, начиная от самой идеи, заканчивая ее реализацией. Эти камни, молоточки, которыми они строят, создают, а потом разрушают. Разрушаются сами. Как всё плавно, сколько сил, сколько усилий и это всё оправдывает себя.. с каждым разом, Хаб, ты всё выше и выше 😭😭😭 Спасибо за

Okay, I finally had time to sit down and write the comment this animatic deserves. Hopefully this is not obnoxiously long lmao but I was thrilled when I saw this, because I unfortunately really enjoy the Kains.

But oh my God the rendering is absolutely gorgeous, and I adore how you depict the Crucible with such attention to detail, truly I can see how much care you put in to elicit the Town and it makes the entire animatic feel so homey and nostalgic. Instantly obsessed with Nina’s step leaving blood behind as she then goes to face the wind in the same pose as her statue and theatre painting just ACK. POETIC CINEMA. Especially with the proceeding foreshadowing with the sculptor’s oh my god. And what you did with the captain lyric, I love Saburov in his little hat (now is as good a time as ever to say your renderings of the characters never miss. They have been my favorite since I watched your first animatic they latched onto my brain they are In There). I’ve watched this maybe ten times and 1:04 gets me every fucking time. The foreshadowing. The slow development of Nina’s statue cultivating a nice sense of dread. You are magic for that fr.

I adore how you don’t show Nina’s face at first, and yet even only seeing her smile you manage to make her so self-assured, it feels exactly as Nina should be, and I will probably say this again but the way you draw her hair ??? Just fucking gorgeous unbelievable especially her eyebrows ! Also the effect you used for liquid is fun, it sort of looks like blood to me (whether or not that was on purpose). And Nina’s expression at 1:32 sorry for being redundant but you capture Nina so insanely well !! Your Victor is delightful too, especially here, but he’s fantastic throughout, , , and her little come hither gesture and then the hand touch is DELICIOUS. And again I love how you drew the Crucible and the sky behind it so subtly fanciful, and of course I must say how much I am absolutely falling over myself in adoration of that shot with Victor leaning against Nina’s legs and her petting his hair, in particular given the accompanying lyrics. The way you render Nina and Victor’s faces there is just. Astoundingly gorgeous (again shoutout to Nina’s hair, I am obsessed).

I think the sequence at 2:12 may be my favorite, I eat up your use of playing card every time. I am a sucker for Blorbo Assigned Card on Deck so I absolutely love how you mirrored the lyrics with the cards—the attention to detail there, too ! As a Resident Daniil Stan I must note how much I adore his card, and what you did with his having one hand up, one down, with the heart and scalpel (is that a reference to his utopianism as in-between total idealism or am I reading into it?). But seriously every time I watch this I rewind this part where Nina and Victor look at one another across the table and she holds up the queen card between the rising smoke just. POETIC CINEMA ! (I kind of like the interpretation that Nina knew she would die, just adds something extra tragic to it for me lmao). And oh. Oh the hand grip at 3:00 the desperation I am going mad (affectionate) you are so insanely skilled at drawing hands. And aH again the statue over the piano just itches my brain, , , , the threads of fate tied to her portrait, , , , I love your use of portrait imagery throughout and the way Victor hugs the portrait at the end is heartbreaking, , , , thank you so much for this
