First weekly check in of the year! How was everyone's New Year's? Mine was low key and very nice. I live in Barreiro across the water from Lisbon in a 7th floor apartment that faces Lisbon so at midnight I looked outside and saw the entire horizon light up with fireworks. It was amazing. Then everyone was banging pots and pans out their windows which I'd never seen before in the US and I found out it comes from an Irish tradition of scaring the bad spirits away for the new year.
