3 Of The Most Useless Spells In HARRY POTTER!

Unless Draco Malfoy is trying to make a point to Harry Potter or you happen to come across a nest of random snakes, Vipera Evanesca is probably one of the most pointless spells you’ll ever learn. How many times are you really going to have to send a snake to the ether like Severus Snape does?

This channel is inspired by Harry Potter Theory. I grew up loving Harry Potter and always wanted to come up with my own theories and ideas about the lore and world-building of the series. I hope you enjoy this theory video, and subscribe if you want to see more!

Flagrate was used by Hermione in the Ministry when she marked the doors that they had gone into so they wouldn't go into them again.

Are you kidding? I’d be writing every single thing in fiery ink if I could! Who wouldn’t? Such a fun thing to do😃

In the books, Snape whispered something into Draco's ear, which i assumed was the snake summoning spell, so Draco might not have actually learnt it

Being able to write anywhere or cast illusions to explain something would always be nice!

You can use flagrate to write and cast ruine magic like Dumbledore did around the goblet of fire.

You telling me Tom riddle, dude who made a club of people who loved him, created a literal logo for himself so the club could tattoo it on their arm and then a spell to go with it so the tattoo could go on the sky, who anagrammed his name to say “here’s my new edgy name” and who wasn’t satisfied with doing the darkest magic possible by splitting his soul he wanted done seven times most of them in hogwarts themed rare items AND who had a pet cursed snake just to stay IN BRAND - would use FLAME INK to make notes in the air ? THATS SO UNLIKE HIM THO

1) a lot of spells are combos of words, so knowing the word for snake and vanish allows you to improvise, 2) serpentsortia is likely a simple conjuring spell as it's done by a second year, 3) flagrate, as others have pointed out, had multiple uses. So, this is a pointless discussion.

Vipera evanesca is actually just evanesco (making things vanish) but with an adjective, it's not a spell on its ownbut a variant of a rather useful spell, it's just in order to get a more precise result. Just like protego totalum is a variant of protego and not a spell on its own.

Flagrate is useful if someone is mute, or if "A Quiet Place" becomes real, or you're just sneaking around.

Who else noticed that this was all from chamber of secrets

Number 2 would come in handy against Indiana Jones

Flagrate i could see being used by someone who's unable to speak, and has no stationary of any kind nearby. Say someone got an injury that renders them mute, either temporarily or permanently. That spell would certainly be faster and more efficient than carrying around parchment/paper and a quill/pen.

Turning an animal into a water goblet is pretty useless in most cases

I believe Vipera evanesco is not a spell intended to vanish snakes, but rather the specific coubter-spell to Serpentsortia, probably one one Snape's original creations. The strange thing here is a second year student perfectly mastering a spell that involves conjuring a full blown living being out of thin air at his first attempt. So maybe it's not his first attempt after all. It would totally be like the Malfoys to secretly train their son at magic at home against the Ministry rules, to fuel their ideology that pure-bloods are superior to half-bloods and muggle-borns.

Harry should have learned the snake summoning spell. As he could speak with them, it would have been very useful for spying.

Evanesco is Used By Ivy Warrington and Her family.
Normal people can't caste the spell, I don't think Snape can Caste it 🤔

There's also waddiwasi, one of the most useless spells ever... How many times in your life do you need to stick a piece of gum up someone's nose? 😂 (In the books Lupin does it to Peeves)

I think the 1st spell would be good if you live somewhere like austrailia where there are tons of snakes

Here's something else to consider: the snake definitely seems alive and real, and snakes are edible, so it seems Draco broke that law of elemental transfiguration that Rowling made up in book 7 by conjuring uncooked food!

I mean summon snakes that’s just infinite food
