This is the first in a series of videos in Washington DC, which is the center of the universe for any fan of US History. All kinds of cool stuff here! The uniform of George Washington, a grappling hook from the D-Day assault of Pointe du Hoc, guns of all kinds and the uniform and personal items of Audie Murphy. Way too much for one video. Always learning.

The reason for dark lighting in museums is to protect items that otherwise are ruined under bright lights.

I loved the chairs and mini table that Grant and Lee used at Appomattox.

Awesome to see the LCC-60 flag displayed in such a big museum. I saw the flag myself when it was displayed in the national military museum in the Netherlands. And yes, it is quite impressive to see such a piece of history

As someone who works in the museum field I would say that is pretty well lit! Just enough to see and enough to not degrade the exhibit.

I remember getting to visit Audie Murphy's grave during a school trip to Washingtin DC. I get my love of history from mother...she was awed and nearly cried. I didnt really get who he was at the time. As a kid I didnt get what growing up during WWII meant, I'm trying to grasp a sense of it now. Thank you so much for all you do.

Wow! What an incredible video! I was in awe seeing George Washington's personal effects. Some of that stuff put a lump in my throat, thinking about how fortunate and blessed we are to be Americans. God surely has poured out His grace on our country from the very beginning.

That is one place I would love to visit, perhaps one day I might just make it. The two chairs and table used by Lee & Grant are pretty amazing. 👍

Thanks a lot for sharing another wonderful tour. I've been fortunate enough to have visited this museum twice. The most impressive display to me was George Washington's personal items. Almost made the hair on my arms stand up.

Oh, I sooo wish I can get to the Smithsonian! I'd book two weeks at a hotel in Washington, and explore the museum for as many days as I can. Thanks so much for showing us some fascinating stuff!

I’m a year late in watching this but I’m so glad I found it. This has always been on my bucket list. They say it would take at least 3 days to see it all. I’m so happy you shared this n I agree seeing Audi’s inform, dog tag n his small Bible meant so much to me. He’s always been my first love n hero since I was 11 yrs. old. What awesome place. I just wonder if I’ll make it there.
I’m not going to give up though.
Hope I’ll be able to find the next video. ♥️♥️😊👍👍

Leonard “Bud” Lomell was one of the Rangers at Pont Du Hoc. He’s from my hometown of Toms River, NJ. I’ve held artifacts that belonged to him. From what I’ve heard from other people Bud was a really nice guy.
Thanks for this video. I haven’t been to DC since I was a kid. I definitely need to get back soon.
