I love how Samson isn't actually evil or anything. He's just intimidating. And he still just tries to transport the passengers as quickly as possible and gets scared for his life when the bridge breaks. Lovely piece of animation!

I love how the businessman and Samson aren't big bad villains. The businessman genuinely wants progress and to make the conductor's life easier, it would've been so easy to make him the money-hungry heartless bad-guy. Wonderful job!

I was showing my 4 year old how train wheels worked and was scrolling through some videos and he pointed this out. If he didn't, I would have never come across this video, he also enjoyed it, I think he'll be asking to watch it again in the future

so, I did the math regarding power on our little locomotive,
Linus is a early wild west American steam locomotive probably weighting around 14 tons, the average weight of a passenger car is 20 to 40 tons, but lets cut it in half as the cart showned in video are quite short, so 10 tons per cart, there are 2 carts + that little thing in the back which I dont what is so lets assume its weight on also being 10 tons, together the whole weight of all of htese thing is 44 tons, in 0:44 we can see that Linus climbs a 90* road which will be perfect to do our calculations, but first we need its speed, for that we can use Linus lenths which we calculate from counting how many planks (the ones under the rails) he is long, after counting we should get 10 planks long, the average width of the plank used in railroads back in Wild West was 25 cm, so, our linus is 2, 5 meters long (which means that people are quite tiny) so in 0:45 after he acquired the boost he traveled 14 meters in around half a second which gives as a total speed of 28 m/s which is 100.8km/h (damn quite fast) but lets round it up to 100 km/h, so now we got all we need to calcutate the power of Linus during his coal boost, lets use F= m x g x v, F= 44000 kg x 9, 82 m/s2 x 100km/h after multiplying it gives as a huge number of 43208000 W, (43.208 MW if anyone wondering) (57 942 horsepowers )

I like how Samson has an industrial gray colour with a warm tint to it to relate him to the baron whilst Linus has a more colourful scale. It is a nice contrast between the two.

The Brave Locomotive deserves its own film because the animation is so sublime. It has everything it takes to be a masterpiece. Well done.

This is such beautifully crafted animation, very Disney-esque. It deserves the accolades it has received. The story and lyrics compliment the animation at every turn. This would rival movies such as “the little engine that could” and “thomas the tank engine”.

I have to say I like the fact that neither Samson or the Baron are shown as out and out malicious or nefarious. the animation is breathtaking, the style is exquisite, and the songs are catchy - what a wonderful result to such a passionate project.
