One of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world has hawkeye readily available and yet they choose to be archaeologists examining the ball prints up close with their fingers

The problem is not even with wrong calls but that if there was a hawkeye eye, the player would not feel that he was unfairly judged . This would not impact the psychology so much. It's ok to miss but it's bad when you feel that you have been mis-judged.

If Rublev wouldn't be a tennis player I could imagine him as some sort of tragic writer or philosopher. When he plays tennis you can see that something much bigger is going on. He's not just playing to win. He's constantly struggling with his inner self and the surroundings that he is a prisoner of. Playing tennis is his passion but it can't get him final satisfaction. Andrey fights hard but he's constantly confronted by the imperfections of himself and the world around him. The court, the umpire, the opponent, his own game, he can try to fight it all but at the end there won't be a perfect match no matter how hard he tries. Even if he wins the frustrations eat up all the joy. All the work is for nothing because even in a win you produce many unforced errors and a great match can still be stolen by a bad call of the umpire or a string snapping at an unfortunate moment. The other players lack the understanding of the truths that have already occupied Andrey's mind. There is no satisfaction and peace in this universe. All what is left is the struggle. Life is totally random and has no purpose. Just like a match of tennis. You can scream at the stars or the umpire, the universe doesn't care.

This is why they should just have hawkeye on clay too. Like how are you a grand slam tournament and you dont have hawkeye???

I do sympathize with Rublev on the line call. Part of the problem here is the inevitable blurring of clay court lines with play. And in this case, I certainly can’t see that ball intersecting the “obvious” line section. The raised area to the right of the line (which appears slightly lighter and smoother than the rest of the clay) is almost certainly touched, however. Tough one.

So much for Rublev’ supposed mental improvement…

You have to live with close calls. If you cannot, you are mentally not strong enough for the elite.

Hate to say it. But rublev is mentally very very weak

Bad line calls happen. Most accept it and move on, others, they let it percolate.
Having said that, I don't think Rublev lost the set because of that one call. He got flustered that Arnaldi gets to tee on his shots
which normally does not happen. So, he started pressing and made errors.

At 0:37 it's clear as day that ball is out. Just imagine drawing an ellipse on that shape. Impossible for it to be in.

why are people even complaining about that call.. there are tons of those close calls in tennis so what? Right or wrong it doesn't matter, what does matter is that Rublev got literally obliterated and that call would have changed absolutely nothing

that was clearly out. u have to consider that from the bounce theres gonna be a micro shockwave pushing sand aside. so every ball spot has a "ring" around itself making it look like its the ball but its not

to be fair, THE BALL WAS OUT
the trace, shadow, impact however you want to call it, is symmetrical and it couldn't have touched the line..

Nessun commento sulla grande prestazione di Arnaldi.

Rublev needs to sort out his mental problems

Rublevs mental issiues seems getting worse. He is acting like a psycho.

That ball is almost one centimetre out... It's not even close. The "mark" that catches the white line is not part of the ball mark under discussion (it might be from a previous shot etc).

This video is just a teeny example of a Rublev outburst he was throwing them throughout the match and far worse than this. Arnaldi wiped the floor with him in tactics and everything else.

That ball is out, because of the angle it isn't touching the line

I Love Rublev. He is such a nice guy, but he must control his anger inside him. He admitted that but it looks like it's getting worse instead of better. It doesn't help him to improve his game.
