The first YouTube video just being REAL about the FX3 instead of telling us it’s perfect…🔥

So glad you addressed the firmware thing right out of the gate.

6k with internal NDs in that small form factor for $4.5k to $5k would be the dream.

Kofi, check out the new smallrig extension grip. It closes in the xlr handle to form a "D" and screws into the base of the grip body where you screw the handle in. It makes the Xlr handle more usable.

So now, if you were doing a downward shot and raising the camera upwards, you could let the camera hang slightly without so much pressure on the top. In an Fx3 mark ii, I want wave forms, false colors, and vectorscopes.

It would already be perfect, if it had global shutter and open gate 3:2 full sensor scan recording. Maybe a 6:5 and 4:3 mode with the same capabilities as the 16:9 mode.
All the other features you could ask for can be easily added to your rig. No matter if its HDMI to SDI (BNC) converters, break out boxes, ND filters, etc. etc. these dont necessarily need to be built into your camera. If you do need them built into your camera, get an FX6. Internal RAW isnt necessary either. After all you need an external monitor for this thing anyway. Get one with 16 bit raw recording over HDMI.

OPENGATE is a must for the next markII. 3 base iso would be really cool like cannon is doing right now. Sometimes 12800 just doesnt make sense so need something in the middle to bridge the gap.

Instead of the 6K 12bit 4:2:2 or internal RAW, I would prefer one of the 6K XOCN 16-bit log recording modes from the cineAlta series. We know that the current FX3 sensor can record 16bit RAW and then it compresses it down to 12bit ProRes from the Ninja monitors. So what if we rolled with your idea, and just asked for at least one internal codec of XOCN 16bit log! We may be hard pressed to ever catch Sony releasing a CineAlta feature on their FX series, but it would be awesome. Open gate would be nice.

Some hope the FX3 II would have a global shutter, I think if it just had at least the same readout speed that the current FX3 has around 4-6ms is plenty and I could live without a Global shutter sensor.

To solve the SDI/XLR issue per your idea, maybe the FX3 II could have an improved top handle that not only can support XLR recording, but also video SDI that's at least 3G but hopefully 12G. That would keep the body size down, but would accommodate those who would really need both on set.

I think it'd be cool to see a FX30/s35 type camera in an improved or smaller FX6 body as well. This might be a pipe dream but an FX6 style s35 Sony camera that had the same capabilities as the FX6/3 sensor, would rock, and it would likely be cheaper than the FX6 and give Sony an extra foot ahead to compete with the c70, c80, Komodo and Mavo products.

Introducing 12bit 444 would be more than enough. Maybe limit it to the dci codec but having tht would be a big game changer cause it would still be more compact file sizes than any internal raw.

This must mean a mark 2 is approaching us…😎

I think the best nd solution would be a eVND adapter for E-Mount bodies & lenses released at the same time as the FX3-2, as a lot of people that already have full rigs with matte boxes have no need for the extra size, but a native adapter that gives user full autofocus would be great for every Sony mirror less user, from the a6000s all the way up to people using the A1

I pretty much agree with everything. I'm really looking forward to Sonys next Cine line cam.

I hope the FX3ii takes the Alexa 35 route; make the perfect 4K camera rather than cram more resolution. 1-2 more stops of dynamic range, 3rd base ISO at 3200 or 4000, false color and option to turn off the noise reduction at 12800 without having to externally record. Internal ND would be nice but after getting an FX6 too i realized its not as gamechanging as i thought.

I would definitely looking for an OPEN GATE version on the MarkII

Sony: lol.

The FX3 is going to probably to have the A9III sensor that is tweaked for more dynamic range.

It is time for built in ND for "film" series mirrorless. Hell, for all really SHOULD be there.

FYI, the S9 is insanely popular in Japan to the point where they can’t keep stock.

A) The interior on that Bronco is hot fire.

B) And I agree with all of your takes. I think Sony has pretty much built their product ladder pretty well and everyone who thinks the mk2 will have built in NDs and IBIS is insane because you're asking for a Burrano for 1/4 the price.

Overall, I'm still completely happy with the FX3 and really don't foresee any need to upgrade. Any YouTuber or freelancer who thinks they've hit the top end of this camera is lying to themselves.

That would be awesome for our content.

Internal ND’s would be pretty amazing considering it would be quite the incredible feat for Sony to pull off while keeping the camera small. And even if they had to increase the size by 30% it would still be a small camera. Again one SDI would also be great if they could pull it off. And as for Raw, why doesn’t Sony simply add their own XOCN format into the camera. If it works for the Venice it would work for the MKii. But everything we are speaking of makes the Burano obsolete. So I doubt they’d make a camera with so many features.
