Please remember that they had been planning this ambush the imperials are arrogant and think no one would strike them since that would mean the annihilation of the attacking party like what happened with these two worlds in reprisal.

Secondly they thought they were going to suppress a ground based operation and that missile was fired at practically point blank range.

That is one hell of a fragile ship! Such a shame. Loved how dropped out of hyperdrive / black hole space or whatever it's called and made the little spin haha, was ready for some pew pew action...

Was the ship environment filled with flammable gas or were they still using lithium ion batteries across the entire ship?

So are telling me that the ships computers did not detected in time a railgun and had no way to defend from the shot? In a spaceship more than 12000 years in the future?

One thing for people wondering why the Aegis blew up so spectacularly when it hit the ground, though it only slightly lessens the blow:
The second part of it to hit was the outer missile ring, which given that it was on duty was probably loaded up with munitions which then went off. If the scene had shown the ring detonated and that detonation destroying the ship, I would be happy.
But, unfortunately, there are completely unexplained explosions from the bottom of the ship and also from the freaking jump-creche bays, so I still agree with you that it makes no sense.

Doesn't take much to destroy imperial stuff does it.

A yes the infamous Imperial Paper-Mache class corvette. A hull made from discarded Slurm cans and we stuffed it with hay so it looks extra cool when it catches fire.

It's funny that no matter how far we go into the future combat still seems to involve hand to hand. Funny how the opposite occurs in reality.

I just saw the 5th episode of Foundation The Great Awakening episode begins a bach flash of Gaal in his village and then his awakening in a ship. She learns that she has been in cryosleep for 34 years. On Terminus Zemir Halima is about to take revenge for the destruction of his planet by the empire. An empire ship is approaching and is sure to be sprayed by a cannon. Gaal in his ship appears the hologram of Hary Seldon. This episode is amazing ! in the next episode 6 Death is the virgin.

Surprised the imperials didnt simply tell them to surrender or their homeworld would be destroyed in reprisal.

So B.S. Anti missile is automatic, you are in a warzone, no shields? Such liberties.

God damn it, seriously ? How in hell do they expect to make the Galactic Empire look threatening when it comes the time for Bel Riose ? In the books the old battlecruiser they find in deep space has more firepower than the entire damned fleet of Anacreon, and it was basically an escort ship by Imperial Standards. Despite their VASTLY better tech (remember a Free Trader ship could tank the entire firepower of an Imperial light cruiser) the Foundation gets their asses kicked by Bel Riose because he has ships of the line which the foundation simply couldn't fight off, beating quality with sheer size and the industrial power of the Empire. Now I know there are significant changes (the battlecruisers is changed to the Invictus, which hilariously enough is smaller than the original battlecruiser, who was two miles, or 3.2 km, long compared to the Invictus' 1 km radius, with a lot of void due to it being made out of rings), but that begs even more questions. If Anacreon, a backwater who, remember, has been carpet bombed back to the fucking stone age, has a heavy weapon capable of obliterating an imperial cruiser in a single shot, the Foundation, with decades to research new tech, reverse engineer the Invictus (and Anacreon's weapon) and make a proper naval force, is just going to roll right over the Imperial Navy, what with having one of the greatest Imperial navy ships to be ever built and higher tech than the damned empire by that point.

I have a feeling the writers will try to spin it as a 'The Invictus desperately tries to fight off the Empire as the Free Trader goes to Trantor', but it would feel cheap as hell. It would basically rest of the assumption that the Foundation had simply not built any military ships or, you know, planned for a conflict with the empire that's renowned for mass murdering planets and for exiling their founders to Terminus.

This show has STUNNING visuals, sadly the acting in a lot of places is so bad it’s almost unwatchable. That and the writing is just horrid!
