Pat from Right Channel Radios demonstrates how to use a multimeter to test the parts in your CB installation. You will learn what parts are made to be grounded, and what parts are isolated from grounding. This video shows you how to use a multimeter to test for a break in your CB coax, an improperly installed antenna stud, and a system wide continuity check from the antenna to the center pin of the coax cable.

I'll be testing today and grounding properly. I'm using a mobile Viking as a homebase.

What about the Firestick fire ring coax cable? Can you explain how to check them as well? Thank you.

Yes very informative video. I think I might have a bad ground and need to work on it. I can receive but not transmit. :(

HI and thank yo for the clarity, I do have a question though. I have a Sirio Fighter 5000. Ay nd I notice that I when I spilt the two main parts, apart I still have Continuity between the Centre pint and outer ring, (Would be the threaded part of the antennae fixing point to the 259 Mag mount. The thing I have trouble with is that this is a brand new anttane and seams faulty. Is that correct.
Cneture pin is / seams to be making contact to the other threaded ring....
Cheers Nico

I like your video. Is there anyway to do this with a glass mounted antenna? I'm thinking the only way is with an SWR meter since the ground method you demonstrated will end at the coupling box.

When I check continuity on my antenna, there is continuity from the frame of the truck to the bottom connector ( 👍) but when I check on the bottom of the antenna shaft there is also continuity ( 👎), so now I disconnect the coax from the cb radio and recheck and it's all good.... something wrong with the radio then?

How do you check the ground on a magnetic base antenna ?

to easy for that type mount. What about a magnetic mount, I cant find a damn thing on testing those. Is the center or the threads shorted to the metal whip? OFF the car. I dont want to mount a bad one.

But what do you have the multimeter selected to? Ohms? 20k? 200k?

Its alot easier with a couple alligator clips.

Let's see 50 ohms between center pin and radiating portion of the antenna.
