I applied to rocky mountain college and they let me fly a twin prop with no experience. The guy let me do everything except start the engine, mix the fuel and talk to the tower. I took off, flew over my hometown and started a landing. The landing scares me, it's the point I feel most could go wrong especially since there was an actual student of the college an hour earlier getting pulled out of his plane after crushing his landing gear on the runway.

I never knew I was on the ground. I was so careful and did what felt right. I distinctly remember him using the term butter, and I was surprised to recall he never seemed worried about letting me handle it myself.
