Experts do think that it can be healthy and helpful to do these every once in a while. The question is exactly what should one avoid? So in today's video I'm going to answer just that. I will tell you about the 24 hour dopamine fast rules and how to do it.

I think its crazy that the “eating healthy” and “exercising” isnt in the Do Not Do Tier.

dopamine detox is abstaining from all addictive activities that raise your levels of dopamine too high. The idea behind the detox is to stop being dependent on activities like social media, video games, gambling, and other addictive behaviors.

The only suggestion I would have is renaming the bottom category "Do Not Skip Tier" to avoid confusion.

I did not even know dopamine detox/fast is a thing, i'm so trying this tomorrow.

edit: it is now the next day. I managed to do it until 5:30pm. Instead of the usual sitting at my computer all day, i read a book, went for a walk and worked out. Going to try to keep this up though! The grind never ends.

As for the daydreaming. Negative visualization is actually helpful to increase motivation as it tips the pain-pleasure balance to the side of pain and your dopamine system then compensates that.

I was getting lost in dopamine recently, and I even take a half-ass dopamine detox in which I do most of the things that I should avoid.
But now I can do it and I am doing this on 12th Feb

Great information but don't cut everything or you will be so depressed at dangerous levels. I quit alcohol, PMO and nicotine in one hit and had 4 hours sleep each night for a whole month. I am now getting to the end of the tunnel and I can tell you my life has improved In every aspect. Dating, health, goals, mentally I feel fantastic and confidence is through the roof. My only big dopamine hit is video games, but I only play shooters. I think 1 big hit is enough for a fulfilling life, just be prepared to sacrifice A LOT and suffer temporarily.

A Tier (Things that most people should avoid)
Eating healthy food, Binge watching, Reading fiction, Drinking coffee

B Tier (Things that some people should avoid)
Working out, Reading non-fiction, Listening music, Listening Podcast, Planning/Writing, Hobby, Thinking/Reflect about the past, Realistic daydreaming, Cold shower

Do not do Tier ( Things that you should not avoid)
Drinking water, Work, Meditation

I am going to do a dopamine fast for the next 7 days (and probably for a long-term period with other S-tier level things to avoid).
These are the things I wish to avoid:
- Social Media
- Playing Video Games
- Eating Junk Food
- Smoking
- Watching Shows
- Alcohol
- Listening to Music
- Playing with myself
- Thinking about the past (negatively)
- Daydreaming (about fantasies)

And these are the things that I wish to do during the dopamine fast based from the tier list"
- Working out
- Eating Healthy Food
- Work
- Podcast
- Writing/planning
- Hobby
- Thinking about the past (positively reflecting and writing on it)
- Daydreaming (about my ideal future and writing on it)
- Cold shower
- Meditating

This is a pretty extreme view. People should eat healthy and exercise regardless of a dopamine fast.

I don't get it does dopamine detox really mean to stop enjoying your life because stop eating healthy food seems a bit too far
