Rendition from Dziesmu un deju svētki (Song and Dance Festival)
"Saule, Pērkons, Daugava" (Sun, Thunder, Daugava) is a Latvian choir song. The lyrics are part of Rainis' (Jānis Krišjānis Pliekšāns) poem "Daugava" (1916). The music was composed by composer Mārtiņš Brauns as music for the production of the play at the Valmiera Theater in 1988 (directed by Valentin Maculevich). The song has been repeatedly included in the program of Latvian Song and Dance Festival. This rendition is from that festival in 2008.
In 2014, Ara és l'hora (Catalan: "Now is the Time"), which was officially recognized as an anthem of the Catalan independence movement, was created in Brauns' permission for the song.
